Big Brother 'Outs' Two Racist Houseguests to Viewers -- Was It Enough?

Big Brother Racists OutedCBS’ Big Brother on Sunday night took a small yet meaningful step in bringing to the home audience’s attention the offensive comments being made by some houseguests during the after-hours live feeds.

Midway through Sunday’s episode — and after Aaryn had won the Head of Household competition — a three-minute montage of strategy talk and other discussions was played for viewers. Within the video package, houseguests such as Howard (who is African-American) and Amanda vented their disapproval for Aaryn and GinaMarie, two of the players who have been seen on the live feeds making offensive slurs.

The montage excerpted some of the aforementioned women’s racist and homophobic comments, which came to light during the first week of the new season. (“It’s like, ‘Shut up, go make some rice,'” Aaryn says in reference to Helen, who is Asian, while GinaMarie notes that African-American “Candice is already on the dark side, because she’s already dark.” Aaryn also uses an epithet to describe Andy, who’s gay.)

Side note: Per a TVLine reader poll, 82 percent said that CBS should not edit out all offensive slurs but instead let America see these players for who they truly are.

Regardless of all the “buzz” surrounding BB15 — or perhaps because of the nature of it — recent ratings have registered all-time lows for the summertime staple.

Because of the controversy, Aaryn and GinaMarie have, still unbeknownst to them, lost a modeling contract and a job as a pageant coordinator, respectively. Other houseguests on record as having made racist, homophobic and/or misogynist remarks, such as Spencer, were not singled out in the segment.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Goodness! As concerning as racism/discrimination is against ANY ethnicity or persons of a certain sexual orientation or religion is… is the apparent lack of education prevalent on these threads. The improper use of “your” versus “you’re” is quite shocking and the spelling is atrocious as well.

Maybe we could spend more time on love, education and KINDNESS and less time on one upping others and spewing hate. :)

  2. MsShantel says:

It’s sad that racism still exists today but Jesus is Real and I know he will make a change in the hearts of those who heart isn’t right I pray for everyone regardless of color gender or sexual orientation

  3. Vickie says:

So the producers are now airing the racial, homophobic, and bullying aspects of the show with a patent disclaimer of the sort that comments made are not representative of CBS , it’s producers or staff.

The point that everyone is missing and should be glaringly apparent is they have rules on the show about violence. Why doesn’t this fall into that category? Violence, whether it is physical or psychological harms others. While the physical trauma heals much more rapidly than the psychological trauma does, one would wonder why the producers and legal team are allowing it to continue unchecked.

While snide and snarky comments are the norm on this show, there is a line that has been crossed this season with the continual racial slurs and unprovoked attacks. While this show used to provide the sociopsychology of a group living in an isolated situation, now it has become more like the horror show off a wreckage that the human mind can be compelled to watch as the horror is too incomprehensible in it’s magnitude for the mind to grasp.

Shame on you CBS for not doing something about this. Hopefully, you will foot the bill for the extensive psychotherapy some of these cast mates may require after this experience.

  4. Di says:

Several of the contestants might have said mean or racists things but Aaryn is downright mean and racist. If anyone should leave it should be Aaryn. She is such a hateful person

  5. Jim says:

I am a 72 yr old white male and I am so sad to see stupid young people say things that will haunt them for the reast of their lives. If my grandchildren behaved this way I would disown them, but they have not heard their grandparents or parents behave this way so they know it is wrong. In 1958 I saw black soldiers treated as second class citizens and spoke up for them. I was in restaurant sit ins because they would not serve blacks. Now 50+ years later CBS thinks this is entertainment.

  6. Cat says:

Have you watched the live feeds? What CBS showed was just the tip of the iceberg. Aaryn (Aryan?!) has stumbled her way into vast hatred. My favorite live feed moment was when Candace looked right at the cameras and said something to the effect of, “To Arryn’s parents: did you raise your daughter to be like this? And are you racist, too? And if you are, shame on you.”

  7. Shawn says:

It’s not Aaryn, it’s Aryan… the spoiled, entitled, sheltered brat who is showing that the US, the South… our culture hasn’t changed — it’s just hidden.

  8. Tyson says:

This girl should be in PORN getting gangbang and not on BB. She is prob too stupid and confused with life but then again most white people are because of inbreeding lol Hey, go bake me a cake or ill slap the white off you.
I hope this casper gets skin cancer

  9. warner says:

If they want to dress them to look like Uncle Tom and Aunt Jamima yes. POTUS or anyone else. I stand by my comments.

  10. Sandy says:

NEWS FLASH…am I the only one who heard Candice making a “racist” comment against white people tonight? Her reference to “the confederate flag and the blacks on the block” was as racial as it gets. This “racist” thing goes both ways and I think she should lose her job as well as the other two girls. It certainly offended me and I am a white, southern lady.
I want to see equality in the house!!!!!!

  11. Sandy says:

You are the poster child for “blacks being the most racist of all races”!!!!

    • Sandy says:

This reply was meant for “Tyson”s” comment, (July 30th.) wishing skin cancer on the white girls in the house.

  12. Dayna says:

I think Candice is a beautiful black woman fully capable of defending herself, I’m a black woman and I can careless what a those women have to say they are so insecure and it shows, all I really want to say is GO Candice!!!!!!, kick some rasist butt in Big brother this season….

    • Sadie says:

I think Candice is attractive too, but that doesn’t mean she can get away with making “racist” comments. As for you wanting her to kick ass, you need to learn to spell the word before going further. Your lack of education is obvious!

  13. Sadie says:

Dayna, this is how you spell “racist”. Your grammar is lacking as well.

Heya we’re for the first time in this article. I uncovered this particular board so i still find it truly useful & the idea reduced the problem out there much. I hope to present one thing returning as well as help people like you forced me to be.
