  1. Elyse says:

    Mycroft!! finally!

  2. c says:

Cool! I was wondering when we would finally meet him

  3. Shazza (UK) says:

Excellent casting. Really looking forward to season 2.

  4. lyn says:

I may go back to watching just for him. I can’t take JLM’s scruffy look, so haven’t been keeping up with the show.

    • Danyelle says:

Well, as long as you have been not watching for logical smart reasons. *RME*

      • Steve says:

I just read someone who said they don’t watch because the “drug thing” is getting tiring. Yes, please let’s forsake nuance and realism because they mention it once every other episode.

        • scooby says:

Exactly. Drug addicts are dealing with an ongoing issue, even if they’re in recovery. Things are so tenuous that first year especially that you’re not supposed to do things like make big job, home, or marriage decisions. If we didn’t see anything related to his drug past more than a few times all year, we’d be calling them out saying ‘he’s an addict who came out of rehab not that long ago, why aren’t they delving into that more than they are?’ So much of who he is ties in with his triggers. He can’t really turn it off. They can’t win, I guess.

    • Jennifer says:

      I love Jonny’s scruffy look!

    • Bob says:

I guess you prefer the clean look of Benedict Cumberbatch?

  5. Sara says:

    Exciting casting!!!

  6. Michelle says:

SO THRILLED they’re giving us Mycroft. I was starting to worry they were going to cut him out in favor of the mysterious Papa Holmes. Mycroft and Sherlock’s relationship is one of my favorite things! Very excited to see Elementary’s take on it. Ad Joan’s reaction, of course!

    • johnhelvete says:

I am wondering if Sherlock calls Mycroft his father as some kind of joke/ sibling rivalry thing and there is no actual father.

  7. mia says:

This show has failed to make a bad decision in regards to casting. A great choice.

  8. iMember says:

Uh-oh, somebody’s been a bad lizard. Awesome news!

  9. Steve says:

OMG, this is just an epic choice. I can’t wait. What an awesome show.

  10. Estee says:

this is great news i love rhys :)

  11. rachelle says:

Yay, Mycroft! I’ve been waiting for him to make an appearance.

  12. april-ann says:

LOVE him. He was brilliant in Notting Hill, stole every scene he was in. A major coup for Elementary.

  13. Betsy says:

LOVE HIM. he was SO good in neverland.

  14. Scangela T. Foxx says:

He’s my choice for the next Doctor, but I’m guessing he’s too famous.

    • scooby says:

That’s the problem. So many potential Doctors aren’t in the right place career wise to do it. I can think of people who’d make a great writer/actor on SNL or a great James Bond but it’s not the time for them. Maybe they won’t give up the other things they could be doing. Usually good to get people who aren’t quite as prominent but have the chops and the essence of the Doctor.

  15. He was so bad in The Amazing Spider-Man (I always had a crush on Emma Stone).

  16. Mrs. Ben Covington says:

To me, he will forever be known as Spike from Notting Hill :)

  17. Melanie says:

Loved him in Notting Hill and Danny Deckchair. Great casting. Can’t wait.

  18. DollyDee says:

Will not be watching – can’t stand Lucy Liu! Love the show, love JLM but the partnership simply does not work!

  19. Louise says:

I’ve loved Rhys ever since I first saw Notting Hill. I think that h’s great in this role. :)
