Ratings: Tuesday's Voice Hits Low, NBA Finals Down; Monday's Major Crimes Returns Steady

MAJOR CRIMESNBC’s The Voice hit a franchise low on Tuesday night, scoring a 2.7 demo rating while drawing 10.34 million total viewers — down 13 and 5 percent week-to-week. (Read Michael Slezak’s recap.)

Leading out of that, America’s Got Talent built to 11.5 mil/3.0, yet was down a tenth in the demo from its premiere.

Over on Fox, So You Think You Can Dance (4.25 mil/1.6) ticked down a tenth.

Elsewhere, CBS’ Brooklyn DA (3.7 mil/0.6) slipped another tenth and ABC’s coverage of the NBA Finals (based on rough, prelim numbers) looks down 12 percent from last year’s Game 3 match-up.

Rewinding to Monday’s cable premieres, TNT’s Major Crimes returned to just over 5 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating, down from last summer’s series launch (which led out of The Closer‘s closer with 7.2 mil/1.2) but on par with its freshman average. King & Maxwell — debuting to 3.5 mil, with 825K landing in the 18-49 sweet spot — showed retention of barely 70 percent.

Any numbers for Longmire and The Glades? Love both shows plus Major Crimes. Too much good TV for Monday night.

  2. MoshePipik says:

Great numbers for Major Crimes return, including a nice 6% uptick in the demo. Those series premiere numbers were always falsely large because of the lead-in of The Closer finale, and the premiere this week was the #1 Scripted Series Season Premiere of the year. A great start to a strong season of Major Crimes!

I guess this Hee-Haw crap isn’t working out so well for The Voice. *snicker*

  4. Kim R says:

    Love Major Crimes. :)

  5. Vicki says:

The Blake Shelton show..uh I mean The Voice, took a hit when better singers got the ax. AS for my Tuesday? I watch the tons of Criminal Mind reruns on ION television.

  6. Cathy says:

Really dislike the new ADA on Major Crimes. Have to say, really starting to love Rusty.

  7. J. says:

While the final three contestants left on The Voice are all pretty decent, I think it’s a testament to all the really good contestants being sent home incredibly early this year that the ratings are hitting an all-time low the week before the finale… If anything, this is the point when they should start ticking upwards.

  8. Name That Tune says:

Really a drop in ratings on a results night show (The Voice) just points out a reality for talent shows. People are not interested in sitting through an hour program to get 30 seconds of results. Especially if you are competing against 2 other talent shows with performances that count. I am guessing that for those who cared to know the results they got the info in other ways and didn’t need to watch the show. Most of these shows could lose results night.

  9. Anne Davies says:

Love Major Crimes as we did The Closer. All are very fine veteran actors EXCEPT the new DA. She ruins the show for our family. She cannot act at all and doesn’t belong in the class of the rest of the cast. Her part makes her look silly and not credible.
