8 pm The American Baking Competition (CBS) | The contestants face a cake challenge. (Does it involve walking by a cake and not having a piece? Because I’ve already taken – and failed – that test.)

8:30 pm Family Tools (ABC) | Terry thinks Mason needs a strong role model… but Jack will have to do.

9 pm Guys’ Choice Awards (Spike) | Dudes rule at this bro-fest, which hands out “Mantlers” to those who’ve achieve great feats in guydom. Burt Reynolds, late night’s Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck are among this year’s honorees.

9 pm Royal Pains (USA Network) | Season 5 premiere: Hank is back to work after undergoing major neurosurgery, and his new patient (played by American Horror Story‘s Frances Conroy) is Hamptons royalty. (Watch a sneak preview.) Meanwhile, Jeremiah returns to help handle the HankMed workload, and Divya gets news that will change everything.

9 pm Ghost Hunters (Syfy) | TAPS heads to Shreveport, La., to investigate an allegedly haunted music hall that saw the start of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash’s careers.

9:30 pm How to Live With Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life) (ABC) | Max helps Polly learn to follow through on things. In their first lesson, they tackle her giant pile of unredeemed Groupons. (Uh, Max, can you come help me next?)

Jonathan Keltz (Entourage) guest-stars as a baseball hotshot with a fear of flying.

10 pm CSI (CBS) | Repeat to Revisit: When a former lover of Sara’s becomes involved in the team’s plane-crash investigation, her long-distance relationship with Grissom feels the strain. Pamela Reed (Jericho) and Josh Randall (Ed) guest-star.

  • Maybe the it will make sense when I watch it, but right now I can NOT understand why on earth Royal Pains would set up Hank with a major health crisis of his own in the finale, and then come back with it all over. Anyone who has helped someone who has had a stroke with their recovery knows that it is NOT simple or swift. I hope the show deals with this.
