What to Watch Sunday: Thrones Finale, Falling Skies Returns, Tonys Take the Stage and More

game-of-thrones-s3e10-300On TV this Sunday: The Game of Thrones finale ties up loose ends, NPH suits up for the Tony Awards, Falling Skies‘ Tom has a new gig and Army Wives make some big decisions. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features, here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

7 pm The Next Food Network Star (Food Network) | Repeat to Revisit: In case you missed last week’s Season 9 premiere, here’s your chance to meet the 12 contestants vying for a show on The Food Network. (My money’s on The Pie Man, if only for his funny nickname.)

8 pm The 67th Annual Tony Awards (CBS) | For the third year in a row, Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) hosts this celebration of Broadway’s biggest talents. I’m not sure what song the Annie revival’s cast performing, but I expect to have it stuck in my head through Monday.

8 pm HGTV Star (HGTV) | Season 8 premiere: Ten designers compete for their own program on HGTV; tonight, contestants must create a section of a room that best represents their personal style.

8:30 pm Insane Coaster Wars: World Domination (Travel) | Season 2 premiere: Thrill-seekers travel to Abu Dhabi, Spain and around the United States to conquer the tallest, fastest and longest roller coasters.

falling-skies-s3e1-300 9 pm Game of Thrones (HBO) | Season finale: Joffrey challenges Tywin (that‘ll end well), and Dany waits to see if she is a conqueror or a liberator. Note: This super-sized finale will run for 10 extra minutes — make sure your DVR knows! (Yep, renewed.)

9 pm Falling Skies (TNT) | Two-hour Season 3 premiere: Picking up seven months after the 2nd Mass arrived in Charleston, Tom finds holding political office difficult, Hal struggles with vivid nightmares and a killer mole deals the good guys a blow. (Read our in-depth preview Q&A.)

9 pm The Killing (AMC) | Sarah has her own reasons to join the task force; Seward revisits an old rivalry.

9 pm Army Wives (Lifetime) | Season finale: Holly reaches out for help when Tim goes missing; Roland and Joan prepare to leave Fort Marshall. (Keep the Kleenex handy!) Not yet renewed; check status.

    I hope NPH sings “Don’t Forget Me” from Smash with new lyrics at the conclusion of the Tony Awards. Maybe with some reference to the Emmy Awards he’s hosting in a few months? Or an appeal to the Oscar producers?
