Finale Ratings: Versus 2012, Shark Tank Surges, Nikita Is Steady and Undercover Boss Drops

DR. DOOFENSHMIRTZShark Tank‘s Season 4 finale on Friday drew 6.6 million total viewers and a 1.9 demo rating, topping the night on both counts, rising 5 percent week-to-week and improving on last year’s season-ender by 19 percent.

Shark Tank‘s earlier 8 o’clock installment did 5 mil/1.2, leading that hour in the demo.

Elsewhere, Undercover Boss‘ “Epic Bosses” finale special, with 5.4 mil and a 1.0, was down sharply versus last week and off 9 percent from last year’s closer.

  1. Pati D says:

Thank God that we got a final season for Nikita. Last night season finale was awesome!

  2. Gaby says:

Not sure why there’s a picture of Doofenshmirtz up there, but I love it! :)

  3. Michael says:

So nikita get 0.4 on a friday and its in its 3rd season and gets renewed for 6 episodes only

Then BatB had only 0.5 after the TVD for its season finale and it got renewed for a full season. And they also renewed TCD for 13 episodes to put on friday it averaged 0.4 on a monday under a million viewers. HUH

Something is seriously wrong with this. Is it safe to say CW always hated Nikita because these facts are just weird

    • Md says:

Yes they do. All they care is the vampire diaries and arrow

    • dude says:

It got a 0.2 last week which probably encouraged their decision.

      • GK says:

And the many other 0.2’s that it had been getting since the season started also affected the decision, I’m sure.

    • Gem says:

Although it does ‘well’ in the demo for a Friday, the real reason the show is in this situation is cost. Unlike TCD, action shows like Nikita have a higher price tag for effects and pyrotechnics. For the cost to produce versus its performance in the demo they do not see it as the best use of their resources. Love this show and will miss it terribly but we knew they’d do this sooner or later.

    • Dave says:

That is just ridiculous. I am sick and tired of Nikita fans whining about the CW must hate Nikita. Way to look on the bright side of things. You want to talk facts, ok let’s talk facts. Every year when shows are new the network promotes the heck out of them. The did it with Arrow, The Carrie Diaries, and Beauty and the Beast. Once the dust settles some and they see what kind of numbers the shows are getting the increase promotion on their “hits” Nikita had quite a bit of promotion when in its first season. It was after the Vampire Diaries as well and did not get very good numbers then. Nikita averaged a 0.9 demo rating for its first season which yes is better than Beauty but different times. Nikita averaged the 0.9 when the lead in Vampire Diaries was getting a demo of around 1.5. Tv ratings are down across the board all networks and now The Vampire Diaries their top rated show gets 1.0 – 1.2. Beauty is getting 0.5-0.6. About the same difference. You all need to face the facts that just because its a good show doesn’t mean it gets good ratings and Nikita really should have been cancelled by now but because the CW DOES NOT HATE the show they have kept it going. If the CW hated your precious show it would have at least been gone after season 2. Be happy that you are actually getting closure to your show because there are a lot of people that don’t get that because their show gets cancelled in the middle of a season (Cult fans I’m looking at you). Stop complaining, stop insulting other shows just because yours isn’t as popular, and just enjoy what you have left of your show. Just to make one thing clear too, I am in no way saying anything bad about the quality of Nikita. I have never seen it so I don’t know if its good or not. I will say this the fandom of Nikita though turns me off the show a lot of times because they are so whiny, and mean. They just insult other shows and other actors. It’s really disgusting.

        Relax man.

      • Brandy says:

CW dosent hate Nikita.Mark admitted he likes the show. They gave Nikita six episodes to wrap for the fans ,they kept Nikita on despite very low ratings in season three and late season two.In season one, it got tons of promotion and the networks best leadin. When it did worse at 9pm early this season ,they moved it back to 8pm.CW limited Nikita’s hiatueses this season compared to almost all the other cw shows. The reason it got episodes was partly cause of its ratings (0.2 three times this season) and its cheaper to do shorter seasons ,especially seeing as Nikita has a lot of explosions ect and cause CW is possibly syndicating it for fewer than 88 episodes and also cause Mark usually gives vetran series a short final season(OTH,GG) and not because they hate the show.Just be thankful you get more episodes and a proper ending,90210 didn’t get a proper ending and ended with a cliffhanger of Silver having cancer.Other CW shows didn’t get a wrap up season either:Melrose Place 2009,Life is Wild,Beautiful Life, Hellcats,Secret Circle,Ringer,Cult,.

      • Michael says:

says a BatB fanboy that does the exact same thing now to Nikita. Oh and just for your information TVD averaged 1.2-1.3 when Nikita aired. Thats far away from 1.5. Yes CW hates Nikita why else would they ship it to friday. It was NOT the CW that has kept Nikita on its Warner. CW hates it but Warner makes a fortune on the show just like they do Fringe. Get that Dave!

        • Dave says:

Actually I am not a BatB fan. I have never seen that show either. The only shows I watch on the CW are Supernatural, Arrow, and sometimes the Vampire Diaries. As I stated I have nothing against Nikita as a show. I have never seen it so I do not know if its a good show or not. That doesn’t change the fact that the ratings are not good. Also Warner is the W in the CW so they are partly The CW. The president of the CW has stated that he likes Nikita. The moved Nikita to Fridays to pair it with Supernatural who was pulling in decent ratings for a Friday night show hoping Nikita would do the same for them. Unfortunately it failed to do so and yet The CW renewed it still. As I said I’m just sick of the trash talk from the Nikita fans putting down other shows, whining, etc. You can support your show without putting other shows down.

          • I understand that whiny, abusive Nikita fans annoy you but it’s not fair to single out Nikita in that regard. Every fandom has crazy people who attack anyone who dares to question the awesomeness of their show. How many fans of Supernatural, a show that’s all but guaranteed 20 seasons, are complaining about the timeslot change or the fact that it’s not featured enough (in their opinion) in The CW’s fall promos? And yet, you wouldn’t avoid watching Supernatural because of them. Similarly, I think it makes no sense for you not to watch Nikita because certain fans annoy you. If it’s not your type of show anyway, fine, but every show has annoying and overly obsessive fans – saying Nikita’s fans in particular are bad is just not true.

    • DL says:

I’d guess Nikita is a more expensive show to produce.

    • Chris says:

Stinkita’s numbers for the entire season have been dreadful. Beauty and the Beast should have been canned along with Stinkita, though. No, the CW doesn’t hate Stinkita, it kept Stinkita around for a long time when it didn’t deserve it.

  4. Amy says:

good to see that Nikita held onto its 0.4 sooo many posters figured that it would lower to a 0.3 or 0.2. And yes Nikita deserved more than 6 episodes considering the other shows that were renewed for longer seasons.

  5. Jason says:

The shows just sucks in general. Never promoted right and always to a single genre of people. You don’t need a big network to get ratings ( fx and Amc do better than most big networks anyway) . You need a good story with characters with good word of mouth. The only exception is mad men which gets still crap ratings but still media has a hard on for the show despite the fact the ratings never or barely improve.

  6. Blinged Up says:

Love, love, love, love Shark Tank. Love it!

I liked Undercover Boss for about two episodes, but then I grew skeptical that these employees don’t realize they are on Undercover Boss with the camera crew along.

Did I mention that I LOVE Shark Tank?

  7. DeeeeN says:

I’ve said it MANY & COUNTLESS times, this show DOESN’T belong on the CW..Now that BURN NOTICE is coming to end, they should look into turning in over to the USA NETWORK and make it a summer series, N000T only would the rating go up but it would last for atleast 3more seasons. This is a GREAT show that’s been so under represented. Giving it 6 episodes to wrap isn’t enough, N0000TT even 10 or 13 SHM. But guess should be GLAD that it gott renewed. This is so BITTERsweet -_-!!!

  8. Mikael says:

This season of Nikita started off on the wrong foot by premiering it weeks after all the other CW shows and moving it to 9pm where it went up against Fringe and Grimm, which are 2 huge genre shows. Once they moved it back to 8pm, the ratings improved. And to pair with Top Model was a mistake. Then it was by itself on Fridays, so I think it did well considering. I’m grateful Nikita is getting a wrap-up season, but I can’t make sense of the 6-episode order. Wouldn’t it be better for CW financially to renew it for a full season so it could hit syndication numbers? It just seems weird to cut it off when it’s so close. And shortened seasons are usually 12 or 13 episodes, so again the 6 decision seems weird to me. I just hope it’s enough to properly wrap everything up.

  9. It’s nice that Nikita didn’t adjust down, therefore doubling its rating from the previous episode. It was an amazing finale. Still bummed that the final season is only 6 episodes because I don’t feel it’s enough time to wrap up everything, and it’s most likely going to be very rushed. Still, at least we get a proper ending which many shows don’t, so that’s a relief.
