  • Burn Notice is without a doubt the best show on television. From day one, BN has been riveting to viewers. This show has given loyal followers a diamond among many rhinestones on USA network and other networks. The USA executives and writers are making a mistake by canceling this show. There are so many directions they could have taken this storyline. I for one, will truly miss Michael, Fiona, Sam, Jesse, Mattie, and all the other reoccurring characters that has made this show the powerhouse that it has become.

    • Well said! I have also left a post on this issue…if enough of us stand up to be heard, perhaps if enough of us speak out, Fox Television Studios will reconsider this action…Fox is notorious for cancelling shows that are undeserving!

  • Why is Burn Notice ending???

This is one of the best shows I have EVER had the pleasure of watching!!! It makes no sense to end this series, one of the best shows that has been aired. I simply cannot fathom why….especially when television is filled with so much ‘trash tv’…FOX and USA would cancel a show such as this.
Burn Notice actually has content worth watching, plots that continue to be compelling, fresh, timely as well as humorous, which obviously keeps a tremendous following waiting, albeit impatiently in my case for the return in 2013, only to be told that this will be the final season. I am, along with many, so it seems, exceedingly disappointed in this decision.
Do the FOX TELEVISION PICTURES along with the USA Network executives have some nebulous conception that this is another good move? If so, it will not gain any ratings… nor respect from those of us who enjoy watching something other than mindless reality television… If not, what could they possibly be thinking…. perhaps giving some sort of reason would be nice… preferably to just reconsider this inopportune decision.
Oh, as it is, it does seem as though I am not the only one disenchanted with the FOX TELEVISION STUDIOS for cancelling Burn Notice, a fantastic, sans pareil series from creator Matt Nix which airs on the USA Network. The execs are purported to have another series, ‘VIDEO’, also created by Nix in the works. As much as I am looking forward to this, I do not understand why there cannot be two from this brilliant mind… something to think on at least..

…I sure hope there is still time left for the execs at FOX TELEVISION PICTURES who this time is in conjunction with USA Network to rethink this, just one more of their harsh and exceedingly disconcerting decisions to cancel yet another of their long list of programs undeserving of this act…

    • Tonka USA is owned by NBC Universal not Fox Television.

      • FOX Television Studios is the actual company that is working in conjunction with Fox Television Studios to bring Burn Notice on the USA Network.
If you will look closely, I did not say Fox Television owned USA…
An easy mistake I am sure..

An excerpt from the notice listed: …

‘USA Network will call it a wrap for “Burn Notice” at the end of its seventh season that begins
        June 6.
Fox Television Studios’ spy vehicle created by Matt Nix has been a pillar of the cabler’s schedule since 2007, and set the template for the blend of high-octane action and comedy that characterize USA’s signature original dramas. The final season will consist of 13 episodes, taking the show past the 100-episode mark.

        Thanks for the reply though!
Hope you have a lovely day!

        • Tonka,

I agree with your passion but you might want to address the actors because they are smart but might just want a change or need a salary boost to inspire them to keep going. If Jeffrey and Bruce were making comments about season 7 was enough, maybe it might be more about them not just the suits at the network.

This show was so informative while being entertaining, it might have a comeback but because it will reach its 100 episode, syndication is and will be strong so executives should maybe offer more to keep the cast around.

Love all the Burn Notice fans!

          • Hi hotchili!

            Excellent point!!!

You know, if indeed this is why Burn Notice is being cancelled…for the money that Fox Television Studios and USA Network obviously does not want to pay….well, let’s just say that I am not surprised!

It appears that Fox Television Studios has a habit of cancelling shows that have some depth to them, albeit fictional, and keeps programs that lack substance. It is obvious they would rather have these ‘reality television shows’…as if the shows that are on are in any way the reality of most families.
IMHO, Bruce, Jeffrey, Gabrielle, Coby, Sharon, and the rest of this fantastic cast deserve a raise!
These television production companies pay out millions of dollars to the ‘reality show’… uh, hum…(clearing of the throat) ‘stars’ for television that at best keeps some viewers on edge to see what, oh, I don’t know, maybe dress they will buy for whatever is coming up next….pluuuuueeeeeezzzzzzzzeeeee!

I am all for the studio execs coughing up a few extra dollars so the discerning viewing public can continue to enjoy one of the very few shows on television left that is worth watching! They obviously have the mega mills to do so… considering what they pay for the ‘reality television shows’ that are out there….and how, pray tell, do they have the gall to refer to these shows as ‘reality’??? And anyway, if they do find it within their hearts to give these well deserving actors a ‘raise’, we will be the ones to pay in the long run….they will just ad more commercials…and strangely enough, I would not be so appalled… cannot believe I am saying that… I just think there are so many more plot lines left for these characters to explore…and it seems many agree with me…

Thanks hotchili! Again, excellent point made!

  • I’m really sad that Burn Notice is being cancelled have watched the show from the very first episode . If I read it right Dade County will suffer the lost to their economy (jobs, tourism, etc.) because they were looking for more money to lease the convention center where Burn Notice was filmed. I guess we will all be sad to see the end of the show. I am loosing confidence in the people who decide which shows are renewed and which are cancelled. We have already lost Leverage, CSI NY, Southland and many more, but the poor quality REALITY SHOWS just keep coming.

I liked BN because Donavan at least knew or had some martial art training. I want to be Bill Gates Limmo Driver you think Curt could help me fulfill my dream. I was going to say something else but I will keep it clean as requested.

  • The Peter Principle, “Employees tend to rise to their level of incompetence.” It can also be restated as, “TV Executives tend to rise to their level of incompetence.” For the USA Execs to keep truly ignorant shows like Necessary Roughness (Stamos can’t help a lame show like that!) and Phsyc shows a complete lack of judgement! It also becomes very apparent that they couldn’t care less what the viewing audience wants to see. If the actors don’t wish to continue, that’s one thing, however if it’s just another bonehead decision by those in the ivory towers who are clueless themselves……that’s another matter altogether. Netflix is indeed becoming more of the best option for TV viewing. We got hooked on the show and are VERY sad to see it go, especially since network TV stinks up the place on so many levels with the exception of NCIS!!!

    • Thanks, Penny, for hitting the nail on the head!! If we demand the ignorant and arrogant TV executives or agencies pay attention to our “rights” to make them rich, they should be able to give us what WE want….QUALITY PROGRAMS!!!!!!! Shame on them for expecting us to swallow their choices for reality shows, really inane and stupid programs and ‘almost porn’ on family television (we can buy it elsewhere if we wanted it!!!!)

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! Just stop watching the stuff that is garbage, tell the TV executives what we are doing, and that we will boycot any of the advertisers of the programs we don’t like, and THEN DO IT!!!! Who wants to pay billions for sleazy, boring programs, when the advertisers are aware their products are not being sold to millions of US!!! Sure, agencies ask us what we like..that’s how Burn Notice got #!. Only We can hit the producers in the pockets, which forces stupid producers to stop showing what we don’t want!!!

  • As an Australian Viewer of Burn Notice I must say that the executives at USA have not done a study on the demographic audience that watches this show or for that matter any of the shows that are distributed world wide as this is a favourite of mine and my circle of friends nationally. The chemistry between all the stars is excellent and makes for entertaining TV and stated else where the story lines are unlimited especially now as they are all under threat. A good spin off would be for Sam to relive his seal operations and Fiona her life in the IRA there is multiple was for this to go. I would like to see this show continue and go as far as the writers could take it. Perhaps another network could be pick it up I believe it has been done before or pitched to other global networks the same as the Transporter to reduce production costs to the network

A character from BN was on the first ep of Graceland and on top of that the main characters name is Michael too. Are you kidding me? After BN and pysch is over I’m done with USA. I hope they read this comment and understand they’ve lost a viewer if they care. +1 if your done with USA unless they bring BN back.( does not apply if actual proof comes out that the cast wanted out)

Please don’t think you can replace Burn Notice with Graceland…There is no comparison. It may not even make one season.
USA’s lineup was great. Whoever is currently making decisions at the USA network has made some poor choices. I will now be surfing my yv to find new entertainment.

  • Dicey choice to leave the series at this point, both female and male leads are 45, and Campbell in his fifties, the SMARTEST thing to do is hold out for two more seasons while in their prime.

I submit they are holding out, for a big finish based on fan write in and revolt! I say we give it to them, they deserve it.

  • I agree sweetieman. As much as i hate to say it, because i love Burn Notice, I believe the show had run its course. I will say i was disappointed when i found out the final season would only contain 13 episodes as such a gritty and intelligent show deserves a better send off. As you stated the plot lines would become stale and repetitive following the current storyline and for the fact that there are only a few main characters i feel at this point in the series it would not seem realistic to further develop the character arcs or introduce new characters. Other than the 13 episode season i believe the producers made the right choice to go out on top rather than running the series in to the ground with monotony. And trust me it pains me to say that because this is my favorite show currently in television. Can’t wait to see what Jeffery Donovan does next. Would like to see a feature film about a young Michael Westin in a Bourne Identity type action film.

  • There are so few shows left for intellectuals. “Numbers” is gone. “Farscape” was truly phenomenal and “Sci-Fi” lost me then and has yet to win me back. Leverage is another spectacular show gone “MIA.” I sincerely hate getting hooked on shows like “Burn Notice,” where the quality of writing and acting far exceed the vast majority of TV series standards. Perhaps a feature motion picture could develop from this series. After all, Star Trek, TOS, had some seriously one dimensional scripts. “Burn Notice” has an incredible cast providing depth to well-written characters. I can dream, can’t I?

  • The reason for canceling good or great TV series is SAG/AFTRA union(s). If you recall the 2008/9 strike which resulted in most TV shows to stop producing more episodes was settled in such a way where studios can’t make as much money. The unions wanted their greedy share. What is exempt, ironically is what everyone hates….”reality” shows because they are allegedly unscripted. The shows are actually scripted but get by with non union actors/actresses, leaving the very actors/actresses who supported SAG/AFTRA on the outside looking in.

The Freakin idiots at USA need to be fired and they need to get people that now what ratings mean. USA had a loyal fan base for the choices of shows they put on and now they are freakin going mainstream just like all the other networks. USA you freakin suck for channeling this awesome show. Just our opinion here.

  • Can’t believe they cancel this show with great ratings too… I always look forward to this show each week, as most tv shows are not creative or highly entertaining or even really funny these days. So much TV is very dark or is that trashy reality stuff. Burn Notice is completely unique with the suspense and lighthearted combination, as well as a beautiful scenery to see each week of Miami. The entire cast and crew have to be fabulous to pull it off each week for the audience, so I appreciate their work and talent. I’m sure that the DVD sales and syndication are also highly profitable, so why cancel? Good luck finding a winner like this one for the USA network, as nothing on the USA network is anything like this show.
    RIP Burn Notice
