• Always the bridal stylist, never the bride? Not so if you’re former Bachelor frontrunner Desiree Hartsock, who has been named the next Bachelorette after competing for — and losing (?) out on — Sean Lowe’s love during the just-concluded season of the ABC matchmaking series. The ninth season of The Bachelorette premieres Monday, May 20 at 9/8c, before moving into its regular timeslot at 8 pm on May 27.

• Has the long-discussed 24 feature film called a time-out? Training Day helmer Antoine Fuqua, who had been attached to direct Jack Bauer’s big-screen transition, tells IndieWire that the project’s “not happening. I don’t think it’s gonna happen at all, definitely not with me.” A potential part of the hold-up: “I don’t think [Kiefer Sutherland] was able to get a proper agreement with Fox,” Fuqua shared.

• Lane Garrison has joined Lifetime/History’s upcoming miniseries Bonnie & Clyde, per The Hollywood Reporter. The Prison Break alum will co-star opposite Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger as Buck Barrow, Clyde’s brother and partner in crime.

• The Young and the Restless has recast the role of Kyle Abbott. Per Soap Opera Digest, Blake Hood has been replaced by newcomer Hartley Sawyer.

• History’s The Bible on Sunday night slipped 18 percent from its premiere, to 10.8 million total viewers, but still handily beat any and all rivals from 8 to 10 pm. Leading out of that, Vikings (with 4.6 million viewers) was down 26 percent from its own debut.

  2. amybernhardt says:

So excited about more Sherlock! I may have actually squealed out loud when I saw that news!

    • moobear says:

Yup guilty of the same response, on a side note, loved that Benedict did the voice over for the documentaries, Wild Pacific, though heads up it’s only about the south pacific, but it’s over on Netflix and worth it, IMHO.

    • Laurie says:

Ahhhh! I’m practically hyperventilating! I cannot wait until this fall/winter/whenever season 3 airs in the US!!! And I’m so happy that there will be a 4th season!

So excited that there will be more Sherlock!

  9. Bfleet says:

Don’t think The Bible beat ‘any and all rivals’. The Walking Dead (which aired in the time frame you suggested) had more viewers and more than double the rating.

  10. 24fanatic says:

Fox…just drop the 24 movie now. It’s obvious you guys can’t get anywhere with this. Kiefer Sutherland is still up for doing tv. Bring back 24 as a series on Fox. It’ll get better ratings than most of the crap on that’s on the network now.

    • CapperBrown says:

Completely agree with 24fanatic — when Touch ends, get Kiefer for a new 24 season. Don’t really need all previous cast members (some would be nice but not necessary). Given the proper creative attention it could work with just Kiefer and new cast.

  11. Angie's says:

Why no 24? Is it Kiefer or Fox? Darn shame!

  12. big cheddar says:

WHY did they recast Kyle AGAIN? I was just getting used to the last one. Lemme guess – another actor from Hollywood Heights?

  13. Leah says:

Yay for Sherlock!! Bless you Cumberbatch!

  14. Michelle says:

    Long live Sherlock!

  15. More Sherlock? Christmas ISN’T Canceled!

  16. kate says:

pleased about sherlock. NOT PLEASED about 24 setbacks. I stuck with that show for 8 years, not because it got better, but because JACK BAUER WAS AWESOME. I deserve the film.

  17. adambramble says:

    hell yeah!

  18. Amilah says:

Was hoping this year would be the year a Woman of Color would be the Bachelorette. Ugh, why is this so hard for AbC to consider?
Happy that Sherlock is coming back, 2014 can’t come soon enough!
Would have loved to see Training Day director put his stamp on 24. What the hell is wrong with Fox?

  19. Emily says:

Win some (Sherlock) lose some (24) :(
