What to Watch This Weekend: Army Wives and Client List Premieres, a Mentalist Return and More

ArmyWives_S7_castOn TV this weekend: Bring it on down to Five-Timer-ville, because Justin Timberlake is hosting Saturday Night Live again. Also, Army Wives plays “Taps,” The Client List reopens for business, Cleveland meets Heisenberg and a whole new Hamptonite is out for Revenge. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are 14 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm Too Cute! (Animal Planet) | Puppies interact with ducklings. (I said “Aww” just typing that.)

9 pm Ripper Street (BBC America) | Season 1 finale: A kidnapping prompts Reid to tackle the white slavery ring operating in his midst, but he’s gripped by a growing obsession that leads back to a secret from his past. (Already renewed.)

9 pm Flying Monkeys (Syfy) | In this two-hour movie that is not at all capitalizing on the new Oz movie that’s out, a teenage girl’s pet monkey turns out to be an evil, shape-shifting monster. And that’s why you should stick to puppies and/or ducklings.

9 pm Best in TV: The Greatest TV Shows of Our Time (ABC) | Barbara Walters hosts this special edition of 20/20, which awards accolades to various shows (based on fan votes) and includes interviews with stars like Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU) and Betty White (Hot in Cleveland).

11:30 pm Saturday Night Live (NBC) | Host and musical guest Justin Timberlake joins the Five Timers Club. (Is it too much to hope that Hanks et al. show up to usher him in?)

8 pm Once Upon a Time (ABC) | Cora gets closer to taking Rumple’s place as The Dark One, and Mary Margaret is once again tempted to dip her toe in the dark side. Rose McGowan (Charmed) guest-stars as Young Cora. (Get a sneak preview!)

PREVIEW | The Simpsons Go Noir — Get an Exclusive First Look

8:30 pm The Cleveland Show (Fox) | Cleveland takes a shine to his new rodent pal, Rat Lauer. Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show) lend their voices to the episode.

PREVIEW | Revenge First Look: Jack (Finally) Uncovers One of Emily’s Deep, Dark Secrets!

9 pm Army Wives (Lifetime) | Season 7 premiere: Teeing up the first of several cast changes, Fort Marshall mourns the loss of one of its own. (If you don’t wanna know who it is, do not check out this scoop.)

9 pm The Good Wife (CBS) | In the first of five straight new episodes, Audra McDonald (Private Practice) guest-stars as Alicia’s law-school classmate Liz, Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride) shows up as Lemond Bishop’s inconceivable! other lawyer, and Jess Weixler (Teeth) debuts as Robyn, a new investigator working under Kalinda. (Get much scoopage!)

9 pm Shameless (Showtime) | The family gathers for the real Aunt Ginger’s fake funeral.

bobs burgers topsy9:30 pm Bob’s Burgers (Fox) | We could tell you about this week’s episode, by why don’t we leave it to the professional (aka creator/executive producer Loren Bouchard)? “The whole episode is called ‘Topsy,’ and it all has to do with the execution and electrocution of Topsy the elephant, which is a real event that took place in history. Louise becomes sort of fascinated with it, but for her own nefarious reasons. She’s at odds with her fourth grade substitute science teacher because she basically goes on a mission to take down Thomas Edison. Mr. Fischoeder and Gayle figure in prominently and sing an original composition that is, strangely, a love song between a scientist – Edison — and an elephant.”

PREVIEW | Vikings Star: History Series ‘Put Me Through the Wringer, Emotionally, Which Was a Gift’

10 pm The Client List (Lifetime) | Season 2 premiere: We pick up in the middle of Riley and Kyle’s confrontation, which is interrupted by Nathan – who’s there for a very surprising reason. Meanwhile, Taylor makes some changes to the salon that require Lacey and Linette to become more independent.

10 pm The Mentalist (CBS) | Lorelei Martins (guest star Emmanuelle Chriqui) is back to find out if Red John had a role in her sister’s death… and that means Jane has to ‘fess up to Lisbon about his part in the beauty’s prison escape. Emmanuelle Vaugier (Two and a Half Men) also guest-stars. (Get red-hot scoop!)

10 pm House of Lies (Showtime) | Jeannie meets an unlikely suitor (played by The O.C.‘s Adam Brody, kicking off a buzzy arc) when consulting with an adult toy company.

  1. “(Is it too much to hope that Hanks et al. show up to usher him in?)” not at all.

  2. Jason says:

I’m curious, can you actually put the header before the show even with the links? My eyes sometimes tend to unintentionally skip over them, and uniformity is always good. For example:

9 pm Revenge (ABC) | *link*

    • Pickles says:

People have complained about this time and time again and they continue to put the links up instead of the header. Is it really that difficult to put the name of the show instead of the link? Many people would greatly appreciate it

  3. Brandy says:

    Once & Client List

  4. Juan says:

Will watch once upon a time, revenge, and red widow. I hope daylight savings doesn’t hurt their ratings

  5. Liz says:

    OUAT, Revenge & Armywives.

  6. opus says:

No Walking Dead on your list????? Rick and the govenor are meeting!!!!!!!!

    • Jay says:

I noticed that they left that one out too. It may have been an accident, but they could be trying to tell us something.

    • Meg says:

It’s been listed every week for the last 4 weeks. Generally when that happens they leave it off for a week or two.

  7. Justin says:

I have a timeline issue with Once Upon a Time.

In tonight’s episode Rose McGowan plays a young Cora who first meets Rumplestiltskin AFTER he becomes the Dark One. Yet in a previous episode, Hook first met Rumple when he was a man.

Now I understand that as the Dark One, Rumple is probably immortal and doesn’t age, but someone please explain to me why then, in the current time, is Cora older than Hook?

    • Kat says:

I was under the impression that after Hook met Rumple he went to Neverland. I seem to remember him mentioning something to Smee about going to a land where they wouldn’t age. I may be wrong though. :)

  8. Tran says:

SNL with Justin Timberlake. This one’s destined to be one of the best in Season 38.

  9. B says:

I will be shamelessly watching Shameless, loving Emmy Rossum despite her performer of the week snub :p

  10. aciel says:

i really hope that revenge and once upon a time dont hit lows again in ratings because im sick of these 2 shows hitting lows and scandal hitting highs. gosh what is wrong with people i cant believe that scandal even has better ratings then once upon a time now.so people start watching once upon a time and revenge to give these to shows the ratings they deserve i dont want to see the 2 best shows of 2011 going.

    • Sara says:

I loved Revenge season 1 & still watch it, but Scandal deserves the ratings it gets & IMO is the best show on ABC. Can’t comment on Once since I don’t watch it

  11. Nicole says:

Revenge! If Jack got mad at finding out that Fauxamanda and Emily were together at Juvie and “like sisters” as he put it wait till he finds out Emily is Amanda and Amanda was Emily! and he married and had a baby with the real Emily.

  12. Mel says:

Once, TWD, Shameless, TGW. Sorry Enlightened is over. Sunday is always my favorite night for TV!

  13. ollie says:

the one time I want to watch snl but cant bc of work. ouat revenge and good wife. nascar yes I know its daytime race.

    • icywinter2 says:

You won’t be missing anything on SNL, it sucks nowadays. It hasn’t been funny for a longtime. The show has completely lost its edge. All they have on is dumb pop stars that are not funny, one bit. Trying to get the teenage generation to watch it just for ratings is a terrible move.

      • Jay says:

FOX should never had cancelled MadTV! It was far superior to SNL.

      • TV Gord says:

There have been some very funny moments on SNL this season, and I’ve enjoyed a lot of the hosts (Bruno Mars, Seth MacFarlane, Louis CK). Sure, a lot of it sucks, but you can find just as much suckage in the early years of SNL. People have such selective memories.

  14. nick1372 says:

Once Upon a Time & Revenge!

  15. RichieS says:

Why can’t House of Lies and Hart of Dixie trade Wilson Bethel/Adam Brody ? Then Kristen Bell and Bethel could be a couple and Rachel Bilson and Brody….oh yeah, already tried that.

  16. Dave says:

    Wth no new family guy?

  17. Andy says:

Once Upon a Time, Revenge, and The Mentalist

  18. TV Gord says:

My apologies to everyone about my earlier defense of SNL. Tonight’s show was the worst since the years of comic wunderkind, Dick Ebersol. :-|

  19. Ella says:

Amazing Race, Revenge, Army Wives….and Worst Cooks in America on Food Network. I’m behind on OUAT so I will DVR it

  20. Ryan says:

    Bob’s Burgers
    Being Human Finale (U.K Version)

  21. ruby says:

What of Red Widow??I enjoyed its pilot

  22. Leslie says:

    Once and Walking Dead

  23. kirads09 says:

    Watching Live:

    The Bible

  24. mia says:

  25. Jade says:

OUAT and The Client List. I’ve missed that show

  26. Lucy says:

    Once and TGW!
