On TV this weekend: Bring it on down to Five-Timer-ville, because Justin Timberlake is hosting Saturday Night Live again. Also, Army Wives plays “Taps,” The Client List reopens for business, Cleveland meets Heisenberg and a whole new Hamptonite is out for Revenge. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are 14 programs to keep on your radar.
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
8 pm Too Cute! (Animal Planet) | Puppies interact with ducklings. (I said “Aww” just typing that.)
9 pm Ripper Street (BBC America) | Season 1 finale: A kidnapping prompts Reid to tackle the white slavery ring operating in his midst, but he’s gripped by a growing obsession that leads back to a secret from his past. (Already renewed.)
9 pm Flying Monkeys (Syfy) | In this two-hour movie that is not at all capitalizing on the new Oz movie that’s out, a teenage girl’s pet monkey turns out to be an evil, shape-shifting monster. And that’s why you should stick to puppies and/or ducklings.
9 pm Best in TV: The Greatest TV Shows of Our Time (ABC) | Barbara Walters hosts this special edition of 20/20, which awards accolades to various shows (based on fan votes) and includes interviews with stars like Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU) and Betty White (Hot in Cleveland).
11:30 pm Saturday Night Live (NBC) | Host and musical guest Justin Timberlake joins the Five Timers Club. (Is it too much to hope that Hanks et al. show up to usher him in?)
SUNDAY, MARCH 10
8 pm Once Upon a Time (ABC) | Cora gets closer to taking Rumple’s place as The Dark One, and Mary Margaret is once again tempted to dip her toe in the dark side. Rose McGowan (Charmed) guest-stars as Young Cora. (Get a sneak preview!)
8:30 pm The Cleveland Show (Fox) | Cleveland takes a shine to his new rodent pal, Rat Lauer. Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show) lend their voices to the episode.
9 pm Army Wives (Lifetime) | Season 7 premiere: Teeing up the first of several cast changes, Fort Marshall mourns the loss of one of its own. (If you don’t wanna know who it is, do not check out this scoop.)
9 pm The Good Wife (CBS) | In the first of five straight new episodes, Audra McDonald (Private Practice) guest-stars as Alicia’s law-school classmate Liz, Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride) shows up as Lemond Bishop’s inconceivable! other lawyer, and Jess Weixler (Teeth) debuts as Robyn, a new investigator working under Kalinda. (Get much scoopage!)
9 pm Shameless (Showtime) | The family gathers for the real Aunt Ginger’s fake funeral.
9:30 pm Bob’s Burgers (Fox) | We could tell you about this week’s episode, by why don’t we leave it to the professional (aka creator/executive producer Loren Bouchard)? “The whole episode is called ‘Topsy,’ and it all has to do with the execution and electrocution of Topsy the elephant, which is a real event that took place in history. Louise becomes sort of fascinated with it, but for her own nefarious reasons. She’s at odds with her fourth grade substitute science teacher because she basically goes on a mission to take down Thomas Edison. Mr. Fischoeder and Gayle figure in prominently and sing an original composition that is, strangely, a love song between a scientist – Edison — and an elephant.”
10 pm The Client List (Lifetime) | Season 2 premiere: We pick up in the middle of Riley and Kyle’s confrontation, which is interrupted by Nathan – who’s there for a very surprising reason. Meanwhile, Taylor makes some changes to the salon that require Lacey and Linette to become more independent.
10 pm The Mentalist (CBS) | Lorelei Martins (guest star Emmanuelle Chriqui) is back to find out if Red John had a role in her sister’s death… and that means Jane has to ‘fess up to Lisbon about his part in the beauty’s prison escape. Emmanuelle Vaugier (Two and a Half Men) also guest-stars. (Get red-hot scoop!)
10 pm House of Lies (Showtime) | Jeannie meets an unlikely suitor (played by The O.C.‘s Adam Brody, kicking off a buzzy arc) when consulting with an adult toy company.
