What to Watch Friday: Malibu Country Finds Its Voice (Coach), Portlandia Goes Dark and More

REBA, BLAKE SHELTONOn TV this Friday: Nikita turns down some cash, Blake Shelton BBQs up a scheme in Malibu Country, The Onion is caught between Rock Center and a hard place and Portlandia‘s season ender doesn’t illuminate much. Here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm WWE Smackdown (Syfy) | World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, Big Show, Daniel Bryan, Kaitlyn and Sheamus will be on hand for WWE’s live social media event (live tweeting, fan polls and the like).

8 pm Kitchen Nightmares (ABC) | Chef Ramsay visits Ohio’s Mill Street Bistro, which claims to be a chic farm-to-table joint but is really run by a dictator-like owner who overprices tasteless dishes. (The second half of this two-part episode airs next week.)

8 pm Nikita (The CW) | Ari has some intel on Amanda and her plans for a terror attack on American soil… and he wants Nikita & Co. to pay millions for his help. Nikita and Michael can’t believe it when Ryan considers paying the bribe.

8:30 pm Malibu Country (ABC) | Blake Shelton (The Voice) guest-stars as Reba’s brother, who’s got a half-baked, get-rich-quick plan to turn Lillie Mae’s BBQ Sauce into a profit-making venture.

9 pm Shark Tank (ABC) | Two men want the Sharks to fund their at-home tattoo removal device. (Like surgery and electrical rewiring, isn’t that a job best left to the professionals?)

9 pm Touch (Fox) | As Martin and Lucy desperately search for their kids, they uncover some critical details about Calvin’s brain-damaged brother.

9:30 pm Phineas and Ferb (Disney Channel) | As Disney’s month-long National Platypus Day celebration winds down, Agent P teams with his former partner (voiced by The Daily Show‘s Samantha Bee) to stop a hijacked train. Next up: Jesse Spencer (Chicago Fire) voices an Aussie platypus hunter in another new episode airing Saturday at 8 am on Disney XD.

10 pm Banshee (Cinemax) | Not knowing that an increasingly suspicious Gordon is determined to uncover her secrets, Carrie urges Lucas to let go of the past. Meanwhile, Amish outcast Rebecca turns to her Uncle Kai for a new start in Banshee.

10 pm Rock Center With Brian Williams (NBC) | Harry Smith gets an all-access look at The Onion – he kinda has to address the satirical newspaper’s controversial Oscar tweet and subsequent apology, no?

10 pm Portlandia (IFC) | Season finale: The entire town is left in complete darkness after the mayor resigns, so all of your favorite characters are forced to embark on a journey to restore order. Saturday Night Live‘s Bill Hader guest-stars as a mulleted Australian. (Not yet renewed.)

  • With CSI:NY gone, Blue Bloods in repeats, Grimm not back yet, and Cult’s moye to Fridays not starting until next week, the only thing I will be watching is Banshee on Cinemax.

    • I have DirecTV and “Merlin” isn’t listed for tonight, although the episode from last week is on at 2 AM Saturday morning. Except for the now-on-hiatus “CSI:NY”, “Merlin” is the only other program I really enjoy watching on Friday nights so I’m wondering if anyone knows why?
