Set in present-day Pittsburgh, Hatfields & McCoys finds the two rival families competing once again when a startling death re-ignites the two clans’ legendary battle. The blue collar McCoys will put the Hatfields’ wealth and power at risk as they go to war for control of the city.

Bush — who starred on CBS’ Partners this season — will play doc Emma McCoy, the shining star of the family and and the oldest McCoy sibling.

De Mornay — whose TV credits include John from Cincinnati, The Practice, Boomtown and ER — is the head of the Hatfield clan opposite Virginia Madsen’s (Sideways, Scoundrels) matriarch, Eloise McCoy.

The cast also features Jesse Lee Soffer (The Mob Doctor), Patrick Flueger (The 4400) and Nick Westrate.

John Glenn (Eagle Eye), who penned the script, Charlize Theron, AJ Dix, Dawn Olmstead and Beau Flynn are exec-producing.

  1. B says:

Yes! Lets get Sophia back to where she belongs, drama! Miss you B. Davis.

    • Carm says:

Yes! Sophia is the reason I will check it out if it makes it to air.

    • Alex says:

Yes! She was so good in One Tree Hill, and so terrible in that comedy Partners. Get her back to a drama where she belongs.

      • dude says:

She was not terrible on Partners, it was a poorly written show.

      • LaurenMC says:

It wasn’t her – it was just a bad show. She can be pretty funny, and always made me laugh on OTH.

      • Spencer says:

She belongs in drama (bc girl can bring the emotional), but she wasn’t terrible on Partners. The cast had to work with some pretty poorly written material, and she’s proved that she can do comedy on One Tree Hill (her character was hilarious).

  2. Scott says:

    Rebecca De Fantastic!! Awesome Casting!!

  3. Jess D says:

  4. whisperintherain says:

Rebecca De Mornay VS. Virginia Madsen? Bring it on! Both fantastic, underrated actresses!

  5. Nero theTVFiddler says:

Yes! I’ve been awaiting this news – so happy to see Sophia joining a pilot for fall’13 consideration. :)

This cast looks very good – Sophia, de Mornay, Madsen. NBC needs help this fall with new pilots, and it looks like help is on the way.

  6. luli says:

Let’s hope this one lasts…. Sophia needs to be back on my tv

  7. Lauren says:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand I’m in. I will try anything Sophia Bush does, even though I wasn’t fond of Partners. She was so amazing in One Tree Hill.

  8. Elyse says:

I’ll check it out just for Brooke Davis!!!

  9. Jennifer says:

    Pittsburgh?? Really??

  10. cas says:

Love her. At least she is doing an NBC project…Shouldn’t be too hard to get renewed on that network. Anything about a 1.5 demo and you’ve got a shot at survival.

  11. sara says:

    Love me some Sophia Bush!

  12. dude says:

DAMN IT! Now I have to watch!

  13. jsaie says:

Love Rebecca De mornay. A very talented actress in mostly mediocre movies but she is always the bright spot in them.

  14. Joe says:

Thank god! 11 straight TV seasons with Sophia Bush on my screen. I can’t handle her not being on TV. Hope this makes it to the air :)

  15. Kristina says:

Hope this one gets picked up, would love to check it out!

  16. c. says:

One of the most important aspects of the story of the Hatfields and McCoys is that one is from WV and the KY…

Of COURSE it is absolutely logical to put the present day story in Pittsburgh…

Or not. Pittsburgh. That’s just a horribly bad idea.

  17. brutony says:

    Who plays Devil Anse?

  18. trh says:

Sophia Bush!! For B.Davis of course!
