Penned by executive producer Karyn Usher (Prison Break), Delirium is based on Lauren Oliver’s bestselling young adult novels about an alternate present where love is deemed illegal and is able to be eradicated with a surgical procedure dubbed The Cure.

The rub: Young Lena Holoway — to be played by Emma Roberts (Scream 4) — does the unthinkable and falls in love with 95 days to go until her treatment.

Reynolds will play Lawrence Tack, the strategic, no-B.S. leader of the budding Resistance movement opposing the Cure.

Billy Campbell (The Killing) previously was cast as Thomas Fineman, a wealthy lobbyist who supports the use of the procedure and is subject to unbridled rage during times of trouble.

Fox’s other drama pilots include Boomerang (starring Felicity Huffman), Rake (based on an Aussie series of the same name and starring Greg Kinnear) and the tentatively titled Inhuman, a futuristic cop project from J.J. Abrams/Joel Wyman.

  • First of all the the show drama Delirium sounds like it’s out of a storybook then something that could be reality. I mean with what is the story line with love being what the world doesn’t need but is a Cure as the show calls it doesn’t feel believable then believed. The other Fox show Boomerang with Desperate Housewives alum Felicity Huffman does sound like a hit. And maybe with the sudden hit Kevin Beacon’s “The Following” it could be a interesting television line-up.

    • MH – Delirium is based on a popular young adult series of supernatural books, so yes it is not based on reality and geared toward the teens who love the books.

  • I watched a rerun of The Closer today and was reminded how good an actor Corey is. His acting ability no doubt gave the writers a lot of latitude in the development of his character on that show. Like the comment made by Melody, I, too, am looking forward “to seeing Corey’s face again on tv.”
