Exclusive First Look: The Following's Ryan Is Deputized -- Will He Abuse His Newfound Power?

Ryan Hardy’s hunt for Joe Carroll’s cult of acolytes will become slightly less difficult this Monday on The Following (Fox, 9/8c) when the ex-FBI agent is officially deputized — aka he finally gets his gun back.

The following exclusive clip finds Parker (played by Annie Parisse) reluctantly swearing in Hardy (Kevin Bacon) for duty — but not before she makes it clear that stunts like the near-fatal one he and Weston (Shawn Ashmore) pulled in last week’s installment will no longer be tolerated.

  1. Drew says:

Wait… So, what? Did he kill that other guy with intense glaring alone then? I thought he always had a gun.

  2. Jake says:

Every time he’s had a gun before this it’s been covertly given to him by another agent.

    • Drew says:

So then his being deputized is just a reward for his ignoring orders and nearly getting himself and others killed in every episode?

I’m just having fun with the show… if I can’t like the writing, I can at least like the not liking the writing. Right? :)

  3. MaryAnn says:

Since he came back, he was just a “consultant” rather than an actual agent — until now.
