The project is set at the front gates of an elementary school drop-off and revolves around the parents, school staff and 15-minute social minefield they navigate at the beginning and end of each school day. It centers on type-A Helen (Kathleen Rose Perkins), who just moved to town with her husband Mark (Ken Marino) and their 8-year-old daughter.

Germann takes over the role of the super-driven, competitive Yale-educated lawyer who pushes his kids way too hard. Producers made the change after the first table read.

Good. That means he wont’ be sticking around at NCIS!

  2. Sarah says:

Okay fine just someone put Aasif Mandvi in something else please.

  3. JC says:

Am I the only person who’s never seen an elementary school that had gates? (And yes, I’m aware that this show is based on the UK comedy of the same name.)

  4. Adam says:

The title of this pilot constantly throws me off. For one, I don’t connect gates with elementary schools unless prompted, so it seems like a weird title. Secondly, wasn’t there a show on ABC a few summers back called The Gates?

    • CuF says:

Yes, there was an ABC series by that name.
Unmentioned is that this is yet ANOTHER remake of a British series going to pilot this season.

  5. Deena says:

Does this mean we’ll see more of Aaaif will be back on The Daily Show more? I miss him SO much.

  6. Jason says:

    Yay for whitewashing.
