First Look: A.N.T. Farm's Chyna Channels Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald and Janet Jackson

Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm kicks off Black History Month this Friday at 8/7c with an episode that finds Chyna channeling three African-American music icons — and TVLine has a first look at the far-out half-hour.

In the episode “influANTces,” Chyna (played by China Anne McClain) is struggling to write a song for her Black History Month presentation, so she locks herself in a recording booth until she comes up with an idea. When she then dozes off, she embarks on a dreamy time-trip, envisioning herself as Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Janet Jackson.

Coming out of the dream, Chyna churns out a version of the series’ “Exceptional” theme song, weaving in lyrics that pay tribute to the great women who came before her.

The show is pretty good and Chyna herself is ridiculously talented….just the show name is SO stupid. I never watched it because of the title

  2. rikes says:

Maybe this will lead to the “90s kids” stop crying about how new disney doesnt do important topics anymore

    • CJS says:

I will have to respectfully disagre with you. The problem isn’t that new Disney doesnt do important topics. The problem is that now the majority of new Disney shows are about the leads wanting to become stars & the ones that aren’t (except for Phineas and Ferb & Good Luck Charlie) just suck. And for what it’s worth, I actually think that this is a good idea. It’s just the concept of most new Disney shows aren’t what they should be.

      • Ashley says:

Good Luck Charile is one of Disney highest rated shows and its not that bad. Times change it was never going to stay “90s” and people are letting their nostalgia get in the way of common sense.
