Pilot Scoop: Fox Orders Aircraft Carrier Drama from Graham Yost, Gang Related Cop Show

logo-fox-300Fox on Wednesday morning announced another pair of pilot orders, and one of them is really bringing out the top guns.

In Wild Blue, executive-produced by Graham Yost (Justified) and Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad), “ER, The West Wing and Top Gun collide” in an ensemble about the working men and women on board a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. The project promises “an upstairs/downstairs look at pressure-cooker lives of the U.S. Navy.”

Michael Dinner (Justified) will direct the pilot and serve as another EP.

Gang Related, meanwhile, follows a gang member sent in to infiltrate the San Francisco Police Department and rise through its ranks — ultimately landing on the Gang Task Force. There, he must balance his obligations to his crime family with an increasing sense of loyalty to his new “family” on the SFPD. Scott Rosenbaum (The Shield) will exec-produce with Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious), who penned the script.

Fox’s previous pilot orders can be found here, within our remarkably handy Pilot Guide 2013.

  2. lloyd says:

  3. Andy says:

    Gang Related. Small scale Departed?

  4. Rusty says:

Didn’t they try this crappy idea out about ten years ago? It bombed badly! They will never get any help from the Navy, because the writers will have most of the stories showing the Navy personnel and military personnel in a bad light. The story line will include the standard: gay couple, female superior who the men don’t like, at least one rape, pregnancy, spies, of course the old adultery by either one of the leading officers, he or she having an affair with a lower ranking individual and the standard racist.
They would have to get the old writers from JAG and those folks should run if approached. Bad idea that won’t last 6 shows.

  5. Rusty says:

As far as Gang Related…. my god, where do these idiots in television get these stupid ideas for a show. That’s all we need, a show that will show gangs in a “new and different light”. What are these producers and writers taking to come up with this drivel.
