  • “…a talented musician (Robinson) who adjusts to his new life as a music teacher, where he maneuvers precocious kids, teacher politics, and the temptations of single moms.” Isn’t that just “The Steve Harvey Show”?

  • Just what we need, a show talking place in middle school.

  • Craig Robinson did teach before he made it, didn’t he? I’m sure this could be a lot funnier than The Steve Harvey Show.

  • Oh my gosh, someone took the premise of Pucks and made it into a real show! (Episodes reference for those unfamiliar with that awesome comedy).

So….can Craig Robinson carry a show on his own? Does he have that kind of star power or comedic chops? Just throwing it out there as a question, not sure I have an opinion yet one way or another.

    • I think with the right writers, it could be good. I do think Craig Robinson could carry his own show (especially with this kind of theme, though I love that The Steve Harvey Show came to a lot of minds), but just like Joel McHale and the original UK version’s Richard Ayoade couldn’t make the US Version of The IT Crowd “work,” the other factors might make the show DOA. Personally, his name/comedic persona is a draw.

  • Never saw the Steve Harvey Show, as others have mentioned, but this sounds hilarious to me. I’ll be tuning in.

  • Yes, he was a teacher, and like other comedians who have had shows loosely based around their lives like Ray Romano and Jerry Seinfeld, it’s a smart move for execs. And trust, it will be nothing like the Steve Harvey Show! As for him being able to hold a show of his own, of course he can. He’s a great comedian and a talented actor, who has been in this business for the past 20 years grinding! He didn’t just fall onto the scene with The Office, that just gave him a higher visibility. Best of luck to him!
