Sneak Peek: Castle Is Caught in a Parent Trap!

Get More: First Look, Video

Chasing murderous bad guys will seem like a walk in Central Park when Castle invites Rick and his mother Martha to break bread with Kate and her dad Jim — and we’ve got a pair of video sneak peeks.

PHOTOS | It’s  Very Castle Christmas!

In this Monday’s episode of the ABC series, it’s time to “meet the parents” — or more accurately have the ‘rents spend quality time with each other for the first time since their kids coupled up. But as you can see in the first clip below, you may as well ask oil and water to blend together easily.

In the second video, Rick and Kate (thankfully) have been pulled away from the dinner table by the demands of work — though residual tension nonetheless travels with them as they try to extricate themselves and a mob rat (played by Lost/Mad Men alum Patrick Fischler) from a sticky situation. Bonus: MacGyver reference!

P.S. What are the Vegas odds on “Caskett” returning home to find Martha and Jim necking?

  • This is yummy! Can’t wait. How is it that this show has managed to get better with time? And, does that mean that this episode will be a winter finale? Can’t be, it’s too soon, right?

    • I think (but I could be wrong) the Christmas episode is the midseason finale, which is the one after this.

  • nice macguyver reference, i may never have seen the show but references always make me crack up.
should be interesting to see them fight, they’ve been a bit too loved up this season so their dialogue hasn’t been quite as snappy as it has in the past but this should sort that

  • can’t wait to see it. that was one akward diner party. Loved the Macgyver Referance ricks got good taste in television.

P.S. my thoughts exactly Matt, My thoughts excactly. hows the saying go opposites atract. how hilarious would it be to see Beckett and Castles reaction walking in on their parents going at it, alas i think it would be a little to weird if it happened.

  • Ew gross. No Martha/Jim hookup please. I’d rather Beckett and Castle not be step-siblings if that’s okay. Also, people say “opposites attract” but that’s actually not generally the case. Statistically they don’t work out as often. Castle and Beckett aren’t into one another because they’re opposites, they connected because although they seemed very different in the beginning, the more we saw of them, the more it was clear they actually had a lot in common. I think in the long term, Martha would grate on Jim pretty badly, and I don’t really enjoy his character to the degree that I enjoy hers, so I’d rather see more of Martha sans Jim.

    • Thank you! I don’t get why ppl always champion a relationship btwn the parents of romantic leads which, taken to the logical conclusion, results in said leads being (step) siblings. Too weird for me!

      • I also would find that weird, and luckily I read an interview with Marlowe where he said there are no plans to go down that road. So the writers apparently agree with us lol

  • Martha make things too dramatic sometimes and not everybody finds it amusing…..and that includes Jim I think.

  • If the parents end up making out, why does that lead to them getting married, creating step siblings?! Hah, relax everyone! It would be funny to see Rick and Kate’s reaction :)
