First Look: Game of Thrones' Season 3 Poster

Get More: First Look, Premieres

New Game of Thrones episodes are still more than four long months away. But until then, here’s a delightfully dreary new poster touting Season 3 of the sprawling HBO saga.

The forthcoming season’s premiere date — “03.31.13″ — is all the artwork boasts. However, it should be noted that there are some stark contrasts between this piece and last season’s fiery red one. Could this be a sign of dark(er) things to come?

  • I assume the stark grey is because we are in winter now and the red was because we were in an autumn-like season last year? Heehee. Stark grey. I hope that means this is the year of the Starks.

    • I’m just glad it’s not RED. Those of you who have read the books will know whereof I speak…

      • They just filmed the RED scenes so it is coming this season….even if they are splitting the third book in two.

        • Good. Given how certain things played out on the show compared to the books it can’t come fast enough.

          • Episode 9. They’re keeping the trend of having Ep. 9 be the “big one”.

    • Not in Winter, Winter won’t start until end of Season 5 per the books.

  • I’m SO excited! I just started book 3, plenty of time to finish it before the season starts (though I will likely want this season to start in 1-2months already :DD )
