Dancing With The Stars Week 6 Results: Did the Right Couple Go Home?

Get More: News, Reality TV

After enduring a harrowing Monday with Hurricane Sandy, the anticipation of watching a cavalcade of even the most irksome aspects of Tuesday night’s Dancing With the Stars live results show – Macy’s Stars of Dance, bland and/or occasionally lip syncing musical guests, or bloated interview segments, anyone? — was a welcome prospect for this weather-weary New Yorker.

So imagine my horror when I found New York’s local ABC affiliate was pre-empting DWTS to continue its storm coverage!? Where else to turn but Twitter, where I found @jc_swift13 had shared a working link (thank you kindly!).

My night was saved, and for sheer spectacle and drama, tonight’s Week 6 results show of this All-Star themed 15th season certainly didn’t disappoint: it showcased not only a pair of Grammy-winning singer songwriters, Ms. Swift (in a snappy red bow tie no less!), and Jason Mraz (singing live no less!), but also the Macy’s stars, and lots of crazy costumes and glitter.  Woot!

Of course, tonight was ultimately all about learning the fates of Kirstie, Apolo, Shawn and company. But given the ever-accumulating, head-spinning combo of scores accumulated over the last two weeks – which included the eight remaining couples’ solos from Week 5 and Week 6, along with the Week 5 Team Freestyles and the Week 6 group dance – I was ready for someone (anyone!) to be dramatically shipped to the sidelines, pronto! But wow, I sure didn’t expect what happened next…

Without further ado, here’s the moment of truth — tonight’s results:

Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff

Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani

Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel

Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff

Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel

“I’m grateful for this experience and Dancing With the Stars has been honestly an absolute dream,” said a shocked but unbelievably gracious Bryan on being the latest All Star to lose out on the Mirrorball trophy. “Thank you guys so much… I did my absolute best.”

And with that, pick yourselves up off the floor, because it’s your turn. Did the right couple go home tonight? Were you shocked that Derek Hough’s injury has forced him to withdraw from next week’s show (and that Mark Ballas will dance with Shawn)? Sound off in the comments! –Mitch Rustad

  • THERE IS STILL SOMEHTING you can do about it!!!! TURN YOU TV’s all to another popular show like The Voice and knock them where it hurts in the ratings. They HAVE to be able to get the GREAT Sponsers to promote the show if they loose viewers they loose sponsers!!!

  • I deleted all my DVR settings for this show. She was the best dancer on the show aside from Shawn. I’m over it. It should have been Kirstie or Emmitt. The 3 couples at the top of the leaderboard were the bottom 3 – that’s completely ridiculous. I’d rather the judges have some sort of veto or maybe no public voting until the final. Whatever, doesn’t matter, I’m done watching this show forever.

  • Maybe it is time to change the voting criteria from a “who should stay” to a “who should go” basis.

  • Kirstie is a terribe dancer compared to the others, her timing is atrocious and she thinks she is so seductive and hot, yuuuchhh. Sabrina far out shines Kirstie as a dancer. Much more of a likable personality. I thought the dancing was based on dancing. Apparently not. I myself will not watch the show anymore. Kirstie should have been booted off long ago.

  • TheFactsR, reposting the same thing over and over doesn’t help you make your point; it makes you look a little nuts. Furthermore: switching your TV to another channel doesn’t affect the ratings unless you’re one of the rare Nielsen families whose viewing habits determine the ratings.

Another thing: the producers would be insane to post the results each week. If one team is consistently the favorite getting the bulk of votes, and viewers saw that, they would feel no need to call in. Everyone needs to feel like it’s a close race in order to be motivated to vote.

    • Kate you are the only nut I see at the moment, watch yourself calling other nuts! You resorted to name calling posters here.

I don’t use Nielsen, why don’t you ask before you snark out on someone.

I stand by my words: The only fair way is to show the voting results if you have nothing to hide. They show the presidential votes as the it happens and California coast is 3 hours behind East Coast. People already know who they will vote for before the show airs.

They for some reason have the favorite they have chosen for the season and that is it. The people who place wagers on DWTS is NOT going to change the vote just for Tom Bergeron’s statements or for a judges score or for any other reason but THEY HAVE MONEY ON one person to win. The Vegas votes make the winner most seasons.

So wise up Kate and stay off my back! I will put my brains up against yours any day of the week and win.

You showed your lack of knowledge by thinking I use the Nielsen ratings! My cable guy when he put in my new boxes explained how my TV’s vote on programing! I think he would know more than you do Kate! Kate you don’t even know what the FACTS R!

HAHAHAHA Kate go read up on life more before you jump on someone smarter than yourself.

  • Why do people always scream its rigged when a couple they like goes home. This show has been on so long & its always been fan driven! Sabrina may be a good dancer, but she doesnt connect withsome viewers. Me being one of them. I wasnt sad the first time she went home & really got tired of tbe show talking about the “shocking” elimination & shoving het down our throats. She may have gotten a backlash because of that!
