What to Watch: Doctor Who In Review, Boss Is Besotted, the Top Models Get Stuffed and More

Get More: Previews, What to Watch

On TV this Friday: Tardy Doctor Whovians can catch up with a marathon of past seasons, Boss follows his… heart, The Hills are alive (at least for the weekend) and Top Model documents the first time in history a model’s ever been stuffed. Here are eight programs to look out for tonight.

7 am Friday – 5 am Saturday Doctor Who marathon (BBC America) | Before Season 7 starts tomorrow at 8 pm, settle in for Seasons 5 and 6, plus the specials Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol (10 pm), The Science of Doctor Who (11 pm), The Women of Doctor Who (midnight), The Timey-Wimey of Doctor Who (1 am), The Destinations of Doctor Who (2 am), Doctor Who: The Best of the Monsters (3 am) and Doctor Who: The Best of the Doctor (4 am). Doctor whew!

12:48 pm – 9 pm Sunday The Hills marathon (MTV) | Harken back to a more innocent time when we were just meeting people like Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt and MTV’s Laguna Beach spin-off – which airs this weekend in its six-season entirety — seemed like it might actually be for real.

For more Labor Day weekend marathons, check back later today for a special edition of What to Watch.

8 pm America’s Next Top Model: College Edition (The CW) | 90210’s Shenae Grimes shoots the models, who pose as taxidermy. (No matter how many times I re-read that sentence, it just doesn’t compute. So here’s a photo, at right.)

8 pm WWE SmackDown (Syfy) | Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler go at it in the main event.

9 pm Boss (Starz) | Kane is so smitten with new aide Mona (Sanna Lathan), he can’t help but get swept up in her pet project: the redevelopment of a decaying housing project.

9 pm XIII: The Series (Reelz) | When Giordino targets Irina and XIII for capture and death, the sworn enemies must work together to stay alive.

10 pm Blue Bloods (CBS) | In this Repeat to Revisit, a dead firefighter’s young son asks Danny to investigate his father’s suicide, and a heroic act puts Jamie’s undercover identity in jeopardy.

10 pm Strike Back (Cinemax) | Stonebridge and Scott await an attack by El Soldat forces at a remote Algerian farmouse, and the nuclear triggers end up in unexpected hands.

10 pm Real Time With Bill Maher (HBO) | Maher interviews political commentator Dinesh D’Souza and author Walter Kirn, and the roundtable guests are Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander, political strategist Ron Christie and CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien.

  • All this time, wrestling was not only fake, but it turns out that it was science fiction all along! Amazing! Given characters like the Undertaker and Papa Shango I thought it was fantasy.

  • “90210’s Shenae Grimes shoots the models..:” With a gun, right? ‘Cause if her acting talents translate into photography, she has no business being there.

Anyway, I’m probably the first person to mention these shows in the same sentence, but – Boss and Top Model for me, yeah.

  • I am so excited for Doctor Who and I’m not even close to caught up on the show. I’m still on Season 3. But knowing that five more episodes will be waiting for me — ahh!
