Emmys 2012: What Should Win Best Costumes For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special?

Get More: Emmys, Polls

PBS and HBO have dominated the Emmy race for Outstanding Costumes For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special for seven years running — with five wins for the former, two for the latter — and both networks have horses in the race again in 2012.

Can PBS score its fourth consecutive win with Great Expectations (“Part 2″) or Sherlock: A Scandal In Belgravia, or could HBO be back at the podium for the first time since 2008′s John Adams thanks to Hemingway & Gellhorn?

Three other newtworks, though, have an eye on breaking up the PBS-HBO stranglehold on the category. FX takes its best shot with American Horror Story (“Halloween, Part 1″), History enters the race with Hatfields & McCoys (“Part 1″), and Syfy aims for Emmy glory with Treasure Island (“Part 1″).

What would you do if you had the power to honor one of these fine shows when the Emmys are handed out September 23? Choose your favorite in our poll below — TVLine voting closes Sept. 14, so act now! — then hit the comments to justify your pick!

  • I hope that American Horror Story does not win any awards in the Miniseries categories. I think it is a complete scam that they are entered as a Miniseries. I understand why they are claiming it is one, but come on. What a load of BS.

    • Why is it bs? Cuz they didn’t wanna compete with breaking bad and mad men? It’s not a regular show with same setting, story or anything. It’s gonna be something new each year. Isn’t that what a mini series is?

  • I’ve only seen Sherlock and American Horror Story and never of them look too exciting to vote for here. Great Expectations has a pretty cool looking still above, I’ll vote for that one. The Hemingway movie could grab it….I dunno, hard to say without having seen them all, but it’s probably going to be something period that wins, which is about four of the nominees.

  • Are people just voting for the shows they watch? The only program on the list I watched was AHS and I didn’t vote for it because I don’t remember anything remarkable about the costumes. The only noteworthy things were the rubber suit and McDermott’s buttcheeks. What am I missing?

  • Sherlock has that trademark Belstaf (sp?) coat & even managed to bring in the deerstalker in a clever way.

Of course, ASiB is most known for Naked Irene — no costume whatever! ;-)
