  • Season 6 looks AMAZING! Thank God they’re going back to focusing on the CORE relationships. I’m so excited to see Blair and Serena as bestie again, and of course I can’t wait for Chuck and Blair to be reunited as the epic, sexy, sweet dynamic duo they are. Can’t wait for their wedding. “My bet’s on us.” Ahhh, is it October yet?

  • No, I don’t envision any scenario where Chuck and Blair do not ride off into the sunset together. They are Gossip Girl’s one consistent romantic pairing and have been it’s romantic OTP since at least S2. There is a reason they kept them going this long. I’m very excited about S6! Cannot wait!!

  • That promo kind of sucked. Remember the One Tree Hill promo for their final season? It was epic and lead to an epic season. I have a feeling this season of Gossip Girl will be just as bad as last year.

  • I dont care that Chuck is bad. Blair is a violent bully who will sell her own mother if it benefited her. They belong to each other. Heathcliff and Cathy were horrible too and yet we talk about them 100 years later because NOBODY cares about boring, normal relationships. Its not fun to watch or read those. Thats why its fiction, and not reality.

Dairstans, you lost. Move on or shut the TV off.

    • Amen. The violent bully Blair and the abusive dateraper Chuck belong together.

  • I think Chuck and Blair started as Heathcliff and Cathy but have evolved beyond that, particularly Chuck. How anyone can stomach watching the full atrocity of S5 Gossip Girl and not acknowledge the growth and redemption the writers gave Chuck is beyond me. In the past Chuck has reacted childishly and dramatically whenever he felt Blair no longer loved him and when his insane family issues cropped up.
This season we saw him deal with both maturely. The writers showed us the means by which Chuck changed (therapy, giving up Blair, even meditation, lol) and then tested him (with the repulsiveness of the bland Dan and Blair thing and by giving him loonier family problems than ever before) and had him react completely differently. So yeah all evidence points to – Chuck has changed.

To be perfectly honest Chuck is coming out of Season 5 with greater growth and looking more like a rootworthy character than Blair. (The writers almost ruined her by making her a disloyal romantic flake that was oblivous to her best friend. Sounds alot like Serena in seasons past).

And I’ve got to add: Anyone that thinks Chuck and Blair’s relationship has been all darkness has obviously not watch the whole show. They were a mutually supportive couple for the first half of S3 until his mother came back from the dead (heh) and along with his Uncle emotionally mind effed him.
And Chuck has made more selfless gestures toward Blair’s happiness than anyone. I’m not just talking about the numerous times he’s given her up so she can be happy with other guys. I’m talking about how ANONYMOUSLY and without any hope of getting recognition he does things that he thinks will make her happy from advising Nate to accept her for who she is, giving her the perfect prom with Nate, hiring photographers to lift up her self worth, sending her application into Columbia, encouraging Louis to not leave her, stopping the priest from ruining her wedding, stopping Dan from ruining her engagement party, paying her dowry so she could be free to love who she wants, etc. Not only did he do those things anonymously without hope of getting credit, Blair sometimes reacted angrily and accused him of nefarious motivations. So while Chuck has done some incredibly hurtful things in the past (although I’d argue often not maliciously) and he clearly needed to grow up and mature before he could be ready to be with Blair, he’s also shown he truly loves her. (I’ve got to also add, he’s tried to be supportive to her in times of crises too. He was able to help her through her NYU crisis but she rejected his attempts to help during Yale and after she lost the baby. But the point is, he has been shown to care about her and her happiness. MANY MANY times.

    End of essay. lol.

    • Excellent post. Thank you. I’ve never felt Chuck and Blair had an abusive relationship but I could understand why some people might find them too dark and twisty especially after the indecent proposal storyline. ….That is, until last season. I don’t think there is any valid argument for calling him an abuser after season 5. The only thing the writers did well last season was redeem Chuck and make him a better man.

  • I’m excited for the final season. Chuck and Blair FINALLY together as they should be. Dan with a haircut. Nate still sexy. Serena being her flakey ol’ self. Is she really getting married? The only thing I don’t like is that it looks Dan and Serena might be back. Eww. NOOOO! Send Dan off to be with his hipster princess Vanessa. He was such a dick to Serena last season. I want Carter to come back and whisk Serena off her feet! I’m open to Nate and Serena too. They were very cute.

  • Chuck and Blair were the nastiest, most abusive characters from day one of this show. It seems only fitting that they end up together as it ends.

  • Dan treated Serena like dirt. He deserves to be alone. Blair and Chuck are abusive brats. They deserve to be together. Sweet Nate or the new guy for Serena, please.

  • I really loved the promo. Stephanie Savage once said they had to save something for the finish line for Chuck and Blair fans so it looks like we’re finally getting it. The finish line is here! I can’t envision a scenario where they won’t end up together. Not without a mass riot from long term viewers of Gossip Girl. lol. It would basically kill the series as far as residuals and DVD sales go. This is what the series has been leading up to. Chuck and Blair must end up together. :)

Comment by Brenda Barrett Corinthos – August 18, 2012 07:04 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • No I cannot envision a scenario where Chuck and Blair do not end up together. Most viewers expect a happy ending as a reward for all the angst and obstacles. There is a reason they are the only couple whose love story has never been turned off. Even when one tried to move on the other was waiting and longing for the other. Anything less than a happy ending would not be a reward for the fans. I feel good about Chuck and Blair’s fate but I’m less sure about Nate and Serena. Ideally they end up together but I’m not sure. I get creepy Derena vibes from the promo and Dan does not deserve her. He needs to work hard to be redeemed to her after last season.

Comment by Constance – August 18, 2012 08:57 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Nope. I cannot envision a scenario where Chuck and Blair do not ride off into the sunset together. Schwartz and Savage know how to reward the viewers. It would be depressing if Chuck and Blair did not get a happy ending together.

  • I enjoyed the promo but I wish they had included more scenes from season six. The Chuck and Blair moment at the end was lovely, tender and even a bit sexy but I want to know more about Nate and Serena’s stories. Is Serena going to marry that old guy? Is Nate ever going to get a storyline? Inquring minds want to know!

  • it’s obvious to me that chuck and blair were always supposed to end up together and they had to keep coming up with obstacles to keep them apart, each one more ridiculous than the last. because of god, because of louis, because of dan…it was beyond stupid after a certain point, esp with both of them constantly reiterating that they loved each other anyway.

i personally will never understand why they couldn’t both be interesting as a COUPLE. why? i get it when two characters are boring anyway, then of course they’re boring together, but chuck and blair were not boring characters, either of them. they were villainous, scheming plotters who turned each other on, why couldn’t they have hatched those plots just as easily together? if you start from the base line that they’re not going to break up you could do all kinds of things with them as a duo. they could experiment with open relationships, they could plot a season long arc against another villain type, they could have done anything. i just don’t understand why the only interest has to come from when will they get back together? i think that’s just bad writing, i really do.

    • About the God thing: Yeeeah. That was pretty ridiculous. I know I’m in the minority, but I actually kind of liked season 5… showed a certain amount of growth for some and a massive regression for others, but even for me, I was like ‘really writers? all of a sudden Blair is religious and this is a serious plotline? please’.

  • also, think about the first episodes in season 1, before they got together. they were friends and they were always working together on something, i think they still had more scenes and chemistry together than with the other characters, and they were kind of an awesome, evil duo. why couldn’t they have still been like that as a couple? it would have been really easy

  • HELL YEAH for CHAIR!!!! Finally, we are getting our CB HAPPY ENDING!!! It was obvious from early on that Chuck&Blair were GG’s OTP & endgame pairing!! I think it is unfortunate that TPTB felt the need to put so many obstacles in their path & drag out the CB angst as long as they did–S5 is a prime example!!! The lame PSDs/obstacles employed last season nearly killed the show & drove the audience away in DROVES–NO ONE ever wanted to see any of that BS & the ratings certainly reflected it, along w/the unrelenting viewer backlash!! Even casual viewers could not stomach it….Last season was a clusterf*ck plain & simple!!!

However, S6 looks AMAZING thus far!!! It looks like GG PTB are sticking to their word & delivering the goods: CHAIR ENDGAME!!! Bring on the GG finish line with our CHAIR Wedding & CHAIR Family…Cannot wait!!!

  • How is no one talking about what a horrendous bitch Serena was in S5? I mean, I marathoned the seasons this summer (up to s4 is on Netflix!) and I swear they just made her more unlikeable every season. Idk that I consider myself a part of any “ship”, but I remember one episode where I was like ‘ohhhh that’s what people are talking about when they mean Chuck and Blair are end game…’ Honestly, those two belong together and it was obvious from the start that they were meant to end up together.
