Who Is TV's Ultimate Mean Girl? Let the Nominating Process Begin!

There’s a name for you, ladies. But it isn’t used in high society…outside of a kennel.” We all know and love that zinger from the 1939 classic The Women — or at least we should! — and it will certainly apply to the participants of TVLine’s next great bracket tournament.

Yes folks, get ready for TV’s Ultimate Mean Girl, a single-elimination tourney that will celebrate the small screen’s all-time greatest she-devils, harpies, vixens, harridans, and “rhymes with the English-language equivalent of brujas.” The tournament obviously would be invalid without the likes of Revenge‘s Victoria Grayson, Melrose Place‘s Amanda Woodward, and Ugly Betty‘s Wilhelmina Slater, but we need a total of 64 delectable ladies to channel our inner Tim Gunns and make it work. And that’s where you come in.

Head on down to the comments section and nominate your favorite TV mean girls — we welcome characters from classic TV series all the way through to current hits — and give us a few reasons why these battle axes shouldn’t be left out of our tournament. We’ll then scour your list of nominees and your well-reasoned arguments to select our full roster of 64.

So start your nominating below, and for up-to-the-minute alerts on when TV’s Ultimate Mean Girls will begin, sign up to follow me on Twitter @MichaelSlezakTV!

  • Blair Waldorf – Gossip Girl, she’s called a Queen B for a reason. She is the smartest sassiest elegant scheamiest girl and can destroy the once she hate and once she love and still look fabulous.
Georgina Sparks – Gossip Girl, she was a Gossip Girl after all
Juliet Sharp – Gossip Girl, she destroyed Serena and looks great doing it
Cordelia Chace – Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she was THE mean girl in Buffy
Darla – Buffy the Vampire Slayer, poisoned beauty
Faith – Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she was a bitch
Glory- Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Glory is the most selfish, most self centered character on show
Drusilla – Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she was so damn crazy it made her unforgettable
    Ilyria – Angel
    Lilah – Angel
Kathrine Pierce – The Vampire Diaries, she’s the craziest psychotic bitch in town
Rebekkah Mikaelson – The Vampire Diaries, She maybe sad and neglected but also bitchy and sassy
Alison dieLaurentis – Pretty Little Liars, she made them all fear her and adore her
Mona Vandervall – Pretty Little Liars, she might have been crazy but after the Alison era she was IT
Sue Sylvester- Glee, she’s a bitch!
Quinn Fabray – Glee, she’s the perfect Quinn chick
Santana Lopez- Glee, this girl really is the IT mean girl
Chloe McGruff – Don’t trust the bitch in apartment 23, well she hates underwear
Siobhan Martin – Ringer, might have been the good twin but she definitely wasn’t good at all
India – Jane by Design, heartless bitch
Paris – Gilmore Girls, ‘keep your eyes on the prize’ this Blairs quote is most certainly about Paris

These all I conciser to be mean girls, at least at certain point of their lives. But my ultimate mean girls are Blair Waldorf and Kathrine Pierce.

Thelma Harper (Vicki Lawrence), Ellen Harper (Betty White) and Eunice Higgins (Carol Burnett)

Comment by Gail – August 4, 2012 06:59 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • There is a tragic lack of support for Downton’s Miss O’Brian here. Also, almost no mention of Lady Mary Crawley? She might be the show’s romantic heroine but she’s also a class A queen B.

You could fill a bracket with daytime mean girls alone, but at the very least the cream of the crop: Carly (GH), Dorian Cramer and Blair Daimler Cramer (OLTL), and Erica Kane (AMC).

From Buffy, Cordelia Chase definitely, but I think Darla and Angel’s Lilah Morgan were meaner girls than Faith.

Adding on to the votes for Pam de Beaufort, Nicki Grant (Big Love), Santana Lopez, Sue Sylvester, Regina Mills, Cersei Lannister, Gillian Darmody (she talked her son into killing his father!), Karen Walker, Sydney Andrews, Miss Parker, Anna (V), Madison Sinclair, Miss Piggy, and Angelica Pickles.

    • Rachel Gatina! Besides being the quintessential high school popular b****, she lied about her age to Cooper, caused him to crash the limo, then lied to Nathan about seeing dead Keith, tried to sleep with Nathan knowing he was married, expecting a baby with Haley and completely devoted to his wife, almost got into a physical fight with a pregnant woman, got addicted to drugs (if i remember correctly), married Dan… yep, she needs to be there.

  • Katherine from The Vampire Diaries! I think the point of this competition is not only to see who is the meanest of the mean, but also who is the most appealing mean girl. Katherine has that quality that you love to hate. Let’s face it — we all hate her most of the time but at the same time, the show wouldn’t be the same without her on it. She is the ultimate mean girl because she is despicable and also human. She is the ultimate bully, the ultimate mean girl, because she is well-rounded and three-dimensional. She’s done so many awful things, and she is cruel, but we love to watch her be the way she is. She is and always will be the ultimate mean girl in my book. I hope this nomination convinces you also.

Comment by Nicole – August 5, 2012 02:20 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Alison DiLaurentis from Pretty Little Liars. Alison was a bully. Her actions were lower than low, and she has little to no redeeming qualities. But admit it, guys…we live for those moments during this mediocre show when there is a flashback and we see the Queen Bee herself. She is magnetic, and she makes you want to watch her. I’d probably stop watching the show altogether if Alison wasn’t a part of it. Dead or not, she is one of the ultimate mean girls of television at the moment.

  • what about Nicole Wallace from Law and Order: Criminal Intent? Not sure if she’s a mean girl as much as just plain evil, but I’m not sure if a “female villains” contest will happen. other thoughts: Julia Winston from CSI: Miami, Jane Christie from “Coupling” (BBC), Paris Geller from Gilmore Girls (i know we come to like her, but still), and Yolanda/Saffron/Bridget from Firefly.

Comment by Anna – August 6, 2012 10:27 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Lucille Bluth, anyone? Not quite as villainous as some of the potential nominees but boy does she get in some great bitchy lines.
When asked by her granddaughter if they could get ice cream: “I don’t think so, that chubby little wrist is testing the tensile strength of that bracelet as it is.”

Comment by Kaitlin – August 6, 2012 10:33 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I think Lucille is the ultimate mean girl – a lot of the nominations on here are just down right evil women. There should be 2 separate tournaments!

  • Wow, some really great ones. Someone finally put down Katy Sagal’s Gemma from Sons of Anarchy. Andrea Parker’s Ms. Parker from The Pretender. Then lets go back even further…
Jane Wyman as Angela Channing of Falcon Crest
Donna Mills as Abby Cunningham of Knots Landing
Linda Gray as Sue Ellen Ewing of Dallas
Delta Burke as Suzanne Sugarbaker of Designing Women
Sara Clarke as Nina Meyers of 24
Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O’Brian of 24
Penny Johnson as Sherry Palmer of 24
Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones of Sex In The City
    Nina from Fringe

That’s all I can think of for now, but I’m sure there are LOTS more.

Comment by Dawn – August 6, 2012 12:41 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Yes to Nina Myers and Sherry Palmer, no to Chloe. She may have supported bad boy Jack, but she’s not a mean girl. If TVLine decides to do a “weird girls” tournament, though, I’ll nominate her myself.
