Who Is TV's Ultimate Mean Girl? Let the Nominating Process Begin!

There’s a name for you, ladies. But it isn’t used in high society…outside of a kennel.” We all know and love that zinger from the 1939 classic The Women — or at least we should! — and it will certainly apply to the participants of TVLine’s next great bracket tournament.

Yes folks, get ready for TV’s Ultimate Mean Girl, a single-elimination tourney that will celebrate the small screen’s all-time greatest she-devils, harpies, vixens, harridans, and “rhymes with the English-language equivalent of brujas.” The tournament obviously would be invalid without the likes of Revenge‘s Victoria Grayson, Melrose Place‘s Amanda Woodward, and Ugly Betty‘s Wilhelmina Slater, but we need a total of 64 delectable ladies to channel our inner Tim Gunns and make it work. And that’s where you come in.

Head on down to the comments section and nominate your favorite TV mean girls — we welcome characters from classic TV series all the way through to current hits — and give us a few reasons why these battle axes shouldn’t be left out of our tournament. We’ll then scour your list of nominees and your well-reasoned arguments to select our full roster of 64.

So start your nominating below, and for up-to-the-minute alerts on when TV’s Ultimate Mean Girls will begin, sign up to follow me on Twitter @MichaelSlezakTV!

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Ziva David. Along with her words – wishing her teammate had died and calling him worthless – she also uses her fists and pulls her gun on him. If that’s not mean I don’t know what is.

  15. Richard says:

Regina – “Once Upon a Time”

    • We don’t know that “A” is a girl, so I’m not sure that would work. Sadie is a good one!

  17. SD says:

Nellie Oleson for sure – the ultimate mean girl from my growing up years
    Paris from Gilmore Girls
Fiona Glenann from Burn Notice is more of a bad girl than a mean girl, but maybe that counts?
    Tiffani Theissan’s character from 90210
    Tess from Smallville
Anna Sheridan from Babylon 5 (though not a regular and I may be one of the few who remembers;-)
I believe Cordelia and Amanda, that others have mentioned are both great choices!

  18. Nathan says:

    1. Katherine from The Vampire Diaries.
    2. Kate from Teen Wolf.
    3. Blair and Juliet from Gossip Girl.
    4. Edie from Desperate Housewives.

Gretchen from Prison Break, played by Jodi Lynn O’Keefe
Livia Soprano from The Sopranos, played by Nancy Marchand

That’s all I can come up with at the moment – I’ll think about it some more over dinner

  21. Britta Unfiltered says:

Betty Draper. Mags Bennett. Celia Hodes.

    • MaryAnn says:

Wow! Someone mentioned Mags! Fantastic! I thought I was going to be the only one. And just as a comment here, we should not limit ourselves to “girls.” Full grown women should definitely count — even the not very attractive ones.
To me, her role in “Justified” is one of the most purely evil female roles I have *ever* seen on tv.

    Ellie from Cougar Town.
    Sadie from Awkward.

  30. Marie says:

    Lydia from Teen Wolf!

    • Pati D says:

Um, no. Lydia is not a bad girl. I will go with her mom and maybe her aunt who died in season 1.

      • JC says:

You’re thinking about Allison, not Lydia. I don’t think we’ve even seen Lydia’s mom on the show, much less her aunt.

        • Pati D says:

Oops! my bad! For some reason I always get Allison and Lydia mixed up. But Allison’s mom and aunt should be considered.

  31. mary says:

Blair Waldorf…I mean come on, she’s called Queen B for a reason!

  32. A lot of these have been said, but my list would be (excuse the spelling!):
    Victoria Grayson (Revenge)
    Sadie (Awkward)
    Cersei Lannister (Game of Thrones)
    Jackie Florrick (Good Wife)
    Rachel Gatina (One Tree Hill)
    Franny (Greek)

    Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl)
    Jenna Marshall (Pretty Little Liars)
    Ivy (Smash)
    Dani Davis (Wildfire)
    Siobhan Martin (Ringer)
    there are so many!

    A few of my picks:
mean and funny – Blair Waldorf and Cordelia Chase (the Buffy years).
mean drunk – Cersei Lannister, Victoria Grayson
mean and british (and funny and drunk) – Patsy Stone
mean and a little nasty – Kerry Weaver and Kara DioGuardy

  34. Kelly says:

Dalia on Suburgtory. That’s why I love her.

  35. Alyssa says:

Cordelia Chase and Faith from BtVS.

    Paris Gellar from Gilmore Girls.

Ana Lucia from Lost. Cersei Lannister. O’Brian from Downton. Nina Myers from 24. Faux-Livia (season 2) from Fringe. Wilehmina Slater. Regina from Once Upon a Time. Pam from True Blood. Santana or Sue from Glee. Hmmm.

  37. Gilda says:

    Regina/Evil Queen, OUAT
    Fauxlivia, Fringe
Claudia Donovan (ok not mean, but certainly bad***, sassy, and completely against following rules or instructions. Plus, she kidnapped arty that time. So Id say it counts), Warehouse 13

  46. Kiki says:

    Sadie Saxton from Awkward!

  47. Eve says:

Glory from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
One of the series’ best villains by a long shot, not only was she a badass hell god, but she had a wicked tongue and embodied all the classic tells of a true mean girl. Also, she looked killer in a red dress.

    • MaryAnn says:

I had forgotten about Glory. She definitely needs to be on this list! She is almost the epitome of what a “mean girl” is all about!

  48. TigerNightmare says:

This is the most extensive list I could come up with in 20 minutes or so. I’m certain I’m leaving a big one or two out, but to me, all of these women have screen presence, memorable performances and inspire in me affection or even love for them, despite their often cruel or inhumane attitudes and actions. I intentionally left out characters I just detested.

    Cordelia Chase, Buffy
    Faith Lehane, Buffy
    Darla, Buffy
    Drusilla, Buffy
    Glory, Buffy
    Illyria, Angel

    Adelle DeWitt, Dollhouse

    Sadie Saxton, Awkward

    Gillian Darmody on Boardwalk Empire

  50. Lemon Breeland from Hart of Dixie or Parker from Leverage.
