Who Is TV's Ultimate Mean Girl? Let the Nominating Process Begin!

There’s a name for you, ladies. But it isn’t used in high society…outside of a kennel.” We all know and love that zinger from the 1939 classic The Women — or at least we should! — and it will certainly apply to the participants of TVLine’s next great bracket tournament.

Yes folks, get ready for TV’s Ultimate Mean Girl, a single-elimination tourney that will celebrate the small screen’s all-time greatest she-devils, harpies, vixens, harridans, and “rhymes with the English-language equivalent of brujas.” The tournament obviously would be invalid without the likes of Revenge‘s Victoria Grayson, Melrose Place‘s Amanda Woodward, and Ugly Betty‘s Wilhelmina Slater, but we need a total of 64 delectable ladies to channel our inner Tim Gunns and make it work. And that’s where you come in.

Head on down to the comments section and nominate your favorite TV mean girls — we welcome characters from classic TV series all the way through to current hits — and give us a few reasons why these battle axes shouldn’t be left out of our tournament. We’ll then scour your list of nominees and your well-reasoned arguments to select our full roster of 64.

So start your nominating below, and for up-to-the-minute alerts on when TV’s Ultimate Mean Girls will begin, sign up to follow me on Twitter @MichaelSlezakTV!

Comment by Kate McKenna (@Katemadeleine) – August 2, 2012 01:37 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I think Faith topped Cordelia, especially if you take the “Angel” years into account. A slayer teaming up w/ the Vamps against another slayer? Meaner than the typical HS Diva any day!

Comment by Laurel Nevans – August 2, 2012 01:55 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • Sure Faith was a bad seed but she was never as enertaining as Cordelia.

Comment by Mary – August 2, 2012 02:45 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
        • But we’re NOT talking “entertaining”, are we? We’re NOT talking b*tch. We’re talking “mean girl”. Cordelia worked WITH the Scooby gang, whereas faith worked AGAINST them in the end. Sure, Cordelia was more entertaining, but IMHO, Faith is more deserving of the “mean girl” crown than Cordy.

Comment by Laurel Nevans – August 2, 2012 07:58 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
          • Faith didn’t work against them in the end… Did you not see Angel season 4 and Buffy season 7???

Comment by Taelor – August 6, 2012 10:02 AM PDT
          • Plus, Faith wasn’t a mean girl – she was evil. To be a mean girl you have to be all bitchy, not be a bitch. There’s a fine line. Cordelia was never bad (on Buffy, ignoring Angel here) but Faith was genuinely disturbed and evil – and totally kickass – but she wasn’t a ‘mean girl’ per se.

Comment by Georgia – September 6, 2012 08:37 PM PDT
    • Or Faith!

    • %100 agree!!! Killed her own father for selfish reasons, sent at least a hundred kids to be eaten by the blind witch, ripped a single father from his 10 year old daughter for FOREVER (Mad Hatter & Grace), tormented Snow & Charming to the point of making them give up their new baby girl, trapped Belle for 30 years, destroyed any hope for Rumpelstiltskin of being happy (trapping Belle), killed the Huntsman (basically giving him a heart attack), separated two children (Hansel & Gretel) from their father which later made them orphaned for 28 years, made Cinderella stay 9 months pregnant for 28 years at 19 years old, made the Genie kill her husband (Snow’s father), and uh…. put that huge curse on everyone, making them lose everything & everyone they’ve ever loved and trapping them in time, whilst having them all forget everything and live suckish lives for forever.

    • Good ones! I also partially agree with one of the posts above, which includes Karen Walker from Will and Grace, Ling Woo from Ally McBeal, and Sue Sylvester of Glee.

For the classics, I nominate Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen), though I don’t know if she’ll make it past the first round.

  • Madison Sinclair from Veronica Mars (no reformed mean girl here!)

Comment by Paige – August 2, 2012 12:55 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Agreed, she totally deserves a nomination. She wrote “slut” on Veronica’s car the night she got raped then slept with her ex and never apologized for any of it.

  • Cordelia (BTVS, Angel), Blair (Gossip Girl), Brooke (OTH), Katherine (Vampire Diaries — you don’t get more mean girl than whacking off a guy’s fingers). I would also add Alison (Pretty Little Liars) and Amanda (Nikita).

    • Aw, Chloe’s not mean! She’s just… socially awkward and her honest comes across as rude. She’s not trying to be mean ;)

  • Jenna Maroney from 30 Rock and both Lucille and Lindsey Bluth from Arrested Development! It’ll be hard to beat Victoria, but Lucille Bluth is a worthy competitor. We also need Joan Holloway from Mad Men.

  • You already have the best of the best up top in Amanda Woodward, Victoria Greyson, and Wilhelmina Slater, so it’s hard to think past them! But yeah, I think Blair Waldorf earns a spot. Valerie Malone from 90210 too, and of course Lucille Bluth….

Comment by Dahlia – August 2, 2012 01:00 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • This category is kind of vague. Are we talking mean girls or just bad girls? Faith (Buffy), Cersei Lannister (Game of Thrones), Sherry Palmer and Nina Myers (24), and Maria LaGuerta (Dexter) come to mind, though most of them walk a fine line between love to hate and just plain hate.
