DirecTV Customers Get Back Their MTV and 16 Other Channels as Viacom Dispute Is Resolved
Teen wolves, Awkward high schoolers, the world of Futurama and, sure, even The Exes were returned to the homes of DirecTV subscribers on Friday morning, as the dish service resolved its dispute with Viacom.
The parties’ new long-term agreement restores 17 channels — including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, Spike and TV Land — that had gone black for DirecTV subs on July 10.
In addition, DirecTV says customers will also gain the ability to watch Viacom programming “on tablets, laptops, handhelds and other personal devices” via its DirecTV Everywhere platform.
“We are very pleased to be able to restore the channels to our customers and thank them for their unprecedented patience and support,” DirecTV EVP Derek Chang said in a statement.
