Cabrera — who played drug-addled artist Issac Mendez on NBC’s sci-fi series — will guest-star as Ethan Price, the author of a true crime book series about famous murders. And where better for the writer to conduct a few case studies than Miami, home of the Bay Harbor Butcher, the Ice Truck Killer, the Trinity Killer and many, many more homicidal deviants?

Cabrera’s recent TV credits include a stint as Sir Lancelot on BBC’s Merlin, Covert Affairs (where he “cooked up” a li’l chemistry with Agent Annie Walker) and the pilot for Fox’s ill-fated Alcatraz.

Dexter Season 7 premieres Sept. 30. Watch our video Q&A with new cast member Yvonne Strahovski:

  • Love him as Lancelot on Merlin. I’m still hoping his death isn’t permanent, since it sort of wasn’t the first time.
