Ratings: Olympic Swimming Buoys Saving Hope, Duets Hits a Low Note

Get More: News, Ratings

Buoyed by its splashy Olympic swimming trials lead-in — which drew 6.2 million total viewers and a 1.7 demo rating — NBC’s Saving Hope (3.3 mil/0.7) floated up two tenths in the demo and 22 percent in audience this week.

The news was not as good for other Thursday fare, however. Fox’s Take Me Out (2.3 mil/1.0) and The Choice (2.9 mil/1.2) both sank about 30 and 20 percent week-to-week, while ABC’s Duets (4.2 mil/1.0) dropped 17 percent to cue up its lowest rating to date.

At 10 pm, leading out of Wipeout (5.9 mil/1.9), the just-renewed Rookie Blue returned from its NBA finals hiatus to a season low of 4.85 mil/1.1.

Meanwhile, “Opening night” drama on The CW’s Breaking Pointe (871,000 viewers, 0.3 rating) drew a few extra eyeballs.

  • As much as I love Kelly Clarkson, Duets is a mess. From the sketchy “secret” scoring to the predictable fact that every “superstar” would have at least contestant left before going live. They should have allowed people to vote from the get go, and get invested in the contestants. Or, just have each “superstar” with one contestant left. And the talent is, honestly, middle of the pack Idol quality. Having them singing with Kelly and Jennifer is just accentuating that…

    • I would listen to John Glosson from Duets any day over the mediocre singers on Idol or X Factor.

  • Vanessa Lachey was terrible as the cohost on Wipeout. She was forced and loud and unfunny. Hope Jill Wagner is doing well but she will be sorely missed from Wipeout.

  • So maybe canceling the SYTYCD results show wasn’t the best decision for the summer? (not that I want another bloated results show of anything)

  • ABC does a horrible job promoting their shows which is why all of them were low last night. I dont think people knew rookie blue returned last night which is why it was low..come on ABC more advertisement and promos. You are slacking….
