Fringe Scoop: Seth Gabel Not Returning as a Regular For Fifth and Final Season

Seth Gabel FringeWhen Fringe kicks off its fifth and final season this fall, it will be down one castmember.

Sources confirm to TVLine that Seth Gabel will not be back as a series regular.

In a recent interview with TVLine, Fringe‘s leading lady, Anna Torv, noted that the odds of Gabel returning were slim.

“I don’t think [we’ll see Lincoln again],” she lamented. “Unless we go to the other side, no” — a prospect made less likely by the season-ending closing of the bridge between the two worlds.

A Fringe insider, however, isn’t ruling out a guest appearance or two by Gabel during the final 13 episodes.

  1. Lincoln decided to go to the alt world for fauxlivia and because that’s where he wants to be and with her (which I like!), that’s fine with me.

  2. davey says:

I liked Lincoln (and his alt-self)as part of Olivia/Faux-livia’s storylines however if this means that we’ll never see Walternate or Faux again then I’m NOT cool with this at all – I love the alt-verse!!!

  3. Audry says:

The guy was beyond BORING and LAME 0_o

    • leeham says:

lincoln boring? peter is the only character boring fringe, 4 years of boredom

      • AltVerse Desk Clerk says:

Peter is one of the core characters, and his interaction with Olivia and Walter was and is perfect. Lincoln, OTOH, was zzzzzzzzzzz……..

      • Ken says:

Are you kidding me,apart from being a genius, with an IQ of 190,Peter is tough, street smart and can go from a smiling face to a killer expression in a snap of the finger, like when Olivia almost blown is head off by mistake. All these parts Josh played superbly, and you have the nerved to say that Peter is boring, the only boring stiff you have,or had(thankfully so) was the “Lincoln Lee” character,i hope i never have to see him again.Obviously you are a Josh Jackson hater.

    • Ken says:

      So true,so true.

  4. Rev says:

    Bring him back.

  5. Jessica says:

They gave Lincoln a good send off and there are other characters I would like to see come back to the show other than LIncoln. Those being Charlie, Bell ( if he is going to be a big piece of the remaining puzzle and especially Elizabeth. Love her to bits. However, I would really love to see Nina, Astrid and Broyles have bigger parts in the last season, because they have been with the show from the beginning, and are part of what have made Fringe over the seasons.

  6. John says:

When they killed AltLincoln, they took away the Lincoln that had swagger. He was the Lincoln everyone liked. Our Lincoln is/was a HIGHLY polarizing character. Many if not most shippers had some pretty steep difficulty with the Lincoln-as-Olivia’s-love-interest angle, and his lack of charisma (by comparison) got magnified when Peter returned.

Not to worry Lincoln lovers, Seth Gabel is a great actor and will move on to The Next Big Thing, as is true with the rest of the cast.

  7. opus says:

I loved both versions of Lincoln Lee and will miss Seth Gable very much. I hope he will appear in several episodes even if he can’t be a regular. It is just impossible to believe that the alt universe won’t be any part of season 5.
