American Horror Story Pits James Cromwell Against Jessica Lange in Season 2

Oscar-nominated film vet James Cromwell is in final talks to join the cast for American Horror Story Season 2, as the main adversary for Jessica Lange‘s new character.

As reported by our sister site Deadline, Cromwell would play a doctor at the East Coast mental institution lorded over by Lange’s character, with whom he will regularly clash.

Other new faces on tap for Season 2 of the FX hit include Big Love‘s Chloe Sevigny, The Voice‘s Adam Levine and French actress Lizzie Brochere, while Golden Globe winner Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe — who in Season 1 played Constance, Chad, Tate, psychic Billie Dean and doctor’s wife Nora — are all set to return but as different characters.

Crowell’s myriad film credits include The Artist, The Green Mile and Babe, while his TV resume boasts runs on 24, Six Feet Under and ER.
