MTV Specials to Remember Beastie Boys Co-Founder Adam Yauch, Dead at 47

MTV has revealed its plans to tribute Beastie Boys founding member, director and activist Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch, who died on Friday morning following a nearly three-year battle with cancer.

This Friday night at 8/7c, MTV News will present Adam Yauch: Remembering a Beastie Boy, to be hosted live from the cabler’s Time Square studio by Sway Calloway and simulcast on mtvU and MTV.com. The one-hour special will highlight the Beastie Boys and Adam’s career through music videos, performances and remembrances from his peers.

Leading up to the special, mtvU, MTV Hits and MTV Jams are playing wall-to-wall Beastie Boys music videos. Themed music video hours will then air throughout the weekend.

On Sunday at 11/10c, MTV2’s Sucker Free Countdown will dedicate the episode to MCA, kicking off with the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” music video and featuring dedication tweets from major artists and fans.
