TVLine Items: Watch Glee Go Inside the Actors Studio, Touch Nabs Cougar Town Star and More

Inside the Actors Studio is getting downright Gleeky — and soon!

As previously announced, Bravo’s James Lipton-led interview series, during its current season, will profile the cast of Glee, and we now know exactly when. On Monday, April 9 at 8/7c, stars Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith, as well as showrunner Ryan Murphy, all will take the stage to answer some burning thespian Qs.

Not at all coincidentally, Glee Season 3 resumes the following day, April 10, on Fox. Watch a preview of Actors Studio here:

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

Cougar Town scene-stealer Ian Gomez will guest-star in a May episode of Fox’s Touch, Vulture reports. He’ll play a tsunami survivor obsessed with digging up artifacts and returning them to their rightful owners.

ABC’s summer singing competition, Duets, has named former MTV VJ Quddus as its host. The emcee joins previously announced cast members — and music superstars — Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, Lionel Richie and Robin Thicke.

Rachael Harris — who of late has been bringing the funny on New Girl — has nabbed a guest spot in Suits’ upcoming Season 2. Per The Hollywood Reporter, she’ll play a representative from Harvard Law School who causes problems for Louis.

• Saturday Night Live has added Kate McKinnon (The Big Gay Sketch Show) as a featured player, Deadline reports. She’ll make her debut in the April 7 episode, hosted by Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara.

TLC has given the green light to Craft Wars, a 10-episode competition series hosted and executive-produced by Tori Spelling.

kinda lame they only did the big 5…Where is the rest of the cast?

  2. Ana says:

The only thing the will make Glee watchable again is better writing! No amount of promotion, guest stars or PR romances will fix the problem! Wish the producers would figure this out

  3. chris says:

Cougar Town can’t get anymore dead.

  4. lauren says:

Why no Gloria Estefan be invited to visit man’s Actor Studio?

  5. Josh says:

Wow, James Lipton. Just wow. Although, maybe the kids can get some acting tips from the students that were at the taping…

    • denny says:

Actually the “kids” they choose can act. That is why Dianna. Heather, Jenna. Mark, Amber etc aren’t there.

  6. Steve says:

My biggest shock is that Inside the Actor’s Studio is still on Bravo. I thought every show on that network was The Real Housewives of Somewhere or Other.

  7. Josh B says:

I was at the taping for this months ago! The interviews were incredibly interesting and Ryan Murphy confirmed that essentially the main 5 players here will definitely be the in show next season. Can’t wait to watch it aired on tv!

  8. D says:

Why no actors of color from Glee? Oh thats right, that would mean acknowledging that there has been ZERO character development for all the nonwhite characters on this show in the past three seasons.

    • Jackson says:

We must not be watching the same show because Santana and Mercedes have been ALL OVER my tv screen this year.

      • yep says:

That is correct. Santana has had alot of development and songs. Mercedes since the Mash off has had some development also. So much more since s1. Don’t agree with D’s comment.

    • Truth hurts says:

Well maybe cause only one of the actors of color can act..Naya and well there is a hierarchy and tbh Naya wasn;t a regular until the second season.

    • Jeff says:

I in agreement have you seen some of them act? Mercedes can sing and do a little comedy, her drama is bad. Tina can sing but is flat in everything else. Harry can dance, singing is ok for just starting and acting is ok. Plus they have little experience outside glee. And don’t give that Jenna was on B-way she sat in 2 scenes in King and I and wa sa swing in SA , nice but not big time.

  9. John Berggren says:

SNL. Awesome to add an openly gay player. Awesome.

  10. Michael says:

This is by no means a shot at “Glee” but what in the hell happened to “Inside the Actors Studio”?? It used to be a show I loved to watch when they would interview acting legends. DeNiro, Pacino, Newman, Streep, etc….. The cast of Glee?? WTF?

    • yep says:

Maybe you don’t care but lots of people in the general audience do. Inside the Actors Studio has had many others who are famous but young as well. Not just seasoned and older actors.

    • Mary says:

They still do have bigger names, but one or two shows a year they do a cast . No big deal. They had George Clooney and Brad Pitt on already this year. What would have been interesting here but I doubt happen is you have two very experienced stage actors in Lea and Matt who wen to tv.
That would be something to explore in the Actor’s Studio.

    • miles silverberg says:

Mostly for two reasons: 1) The show has been on for 18 years with ~250 episodes. They are running out of big names that they haven’t already interviewed. But they have had some guests back twice, so I don’t see why they shouldn’t have more people back who they haven’t talked to since the 90s, especially Streep. 2) Ever since NBCU acquired Bravo in 2003, the show has been used as a plugging machine for several NBC stars who might not have been invited otherwise. Jay Leno? Really?

I think also that since there actually still is an Actors Studio school, they try to bring in A-list actors who have been members at some point. But after 18 years that pool must be thinning.

  11. SG says:

If this is about acting why is Ryan Murphy there? Will it not make it uncomfortable for the actors to really be open? There doesn’t seem a good rapport from the clips perhaps after all Murphy’s terrible PR last summer.

  12. elbow says:

    This seemed awkward.

  13. xxminniexx says:

It sounds like no one knows what they’re doing. At least post-season 1.

  14. Pete says:

Always the same 5 actors from Glee. They don’t interest me so I won’t watch. Happy watching to all who do. Have a great easter (what’s left of it) :)
