TVLine Items: Alyssa Milano Joins ABC's Mistresses, Royal Pains' New Doc and More!

Alyssa Milano has landed the final lead role in ABC’s Mistresses, a drama ordered to series last month and slated to bow in summer 2013.

Based on the British format by the same name, Mistresses is a provocative drama that centers on four women balancing turbulent romantic and personal lives.

The Charmed alumna — who joins the previously cast Yunjin Kim (Lost), Rochelle Aytes (Work It) and newcomer Jes Macallan — will play Sarah, a classy, married attorney who spends just a little too much time alongside her equally gorgeous law partner.

• Ben Shenkman (Drop Dead Diva) has booked a multi-ep arc in the upcoming fourth season of Royal Pains, reports, playing HankMed’s newest hire.

• Canadian broadcaster Bell Media has ordered 13 additional episodes of The L.A. Complex, per The Hollywood Reporter. The primetime sudser is slated to make its U.S. debut on The CW April 24.

• Monster Garage vet Jesse James is returning to TV in The Jesse James Project, a Discovery Channel special (which will serve as a pilot) set to air Monday, April 9, per TV Guide Magazine.

  • Funny how the American version of Mistresses ended up having a Charmed One after all (the original 2009 pilot included Holly Marie Combs)

  • So does “ordered to series” mean that it will get to series or that it has a chance to get picked up. I’m confused….

    • It means they ordered 13 episodes so a full first season will happen no matter what.

  • I loved the British version… so I will give this a shot. Alyssa is playing Siobhan from BBC Version.. my favorite character, not really sure what to think.
