Scoop: Gossip Girl's Sebastian Stan Cast as James Wolk's Twin in USA's Political Animals

Sebastian Stan Political AnimalsSpotted: Gossip Girl‘s Sebastian Stan putting down stakes in the nation’s capital.

The Captain America actor has joined the rock-solid cast of Political Animals, a six-episode Washington D.C.-based drama about a former first family debuting this summer on USA Network.

From Greg Berlanti (Dirty Sexy Money) and Laurence Mark (Jerry Maguire), the series stars Sigourney Weaver as Elaine Barrish, a divorced former First Lady who immerses herself in her new job as Secretary of State as she rebounds from the dissolution of her marriage and losing the presidential nomination.

Stan, who turns up on Once Upon a Time on March 25, will play her son T.J, a lost soul struggling with addiction — the polar opposite of his “perfect” twin brother, Douglas (Lone Star‘s James Wolk). Brittany Ishibashi (Ghostfacers) plays Doug’s fiancée.

Carla Gugino rounds out the ensemble as a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who is hellbent on destroying Elaine’s career.

This show looks great. Hopefully the 6 episodes gets expanded. I also hope Sebastian gets to be recurring on Once Up on A Time. I am sure his Mad Hatter will fit right in in Storybrooke.

I’m really intrigued by this series, and I’m not generally one for politically-based series, generally preferring supernatural-based stuff, or things like Gossip Girl.

Yes! More Sebastian Stan. Thank you, thank you very much :)

  10. Lea says:

This series is sounding better every day (well, with every new casting announcement, that is).
Although I am still waiting for the comment asking how twins could possibly be played by two different actors… :-)

    • Lisa London says:

I was just thinking that… They could be non-identical twins though, “dizygotic twins” I believe they’re called.

    • Sarah says:

Fraternal twins is the term. It can be girl and girl, boy and girl or boy and boy. It’s just two siblings who happen to have been born at the same time. I should know, I’m a fraternal twin. In fact my twin sister looks more like our older sister. I got the recessive genes, though.

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

Let me introduce you to my twin, yet entirely different-looking, 9-year-old sons :)
