Scoop: Make It or Break It Vet Neil Jackson Joins NBC Soap Pilot Notorious

Make It or Break It star Neil Jackson has landed a co-starring role in NBC’s Notorious, a drama pilot from Mercy executive producer Liz Heldens. Additionally, Katherine LaNasa (Big Love, Two and a Half Men) has joined the cast.

Pilot Season Lingo Guide (Including the ‘Scary’ Second Position), Plus a List of Picked-Up Pilots

Described as an opulent soap, the project centers on a yet-to-be-cast female detective who goes undercover in the wealthy family she grew up with — posing as their maid’s daughter — in an attempt to solve the murder of the clan’s notorious heiress, Vivian.

Jackson joins as Julian Lawson, the sexy, womanizing brother of the late Vivian. He returns home to Greenwich to attend his sister’s funeral.

LaNasa, meanwhile, will play Sofia, the beautiful, ruthless second wife of family patriarch/serial philanderer Robert Lawson (played by the previously cast Victor Garber). The actress’ character is said to have a “cutting tongue” and is not one to sit idly by and play the typical trophy wife.

Can someone explain how the plot of this show, Notorious, is possible?

“Described as an opulent soap, the project centers on a yet-to-be-cast female detective who goes undercover in the wealthy family she grew up with — posing as their maid’s daughter — in an attempt to solve the murder of the clan’s notorious heiress, Vivian.”

How can said detective go undercover in the family she grew up with… and pose as their maid’s daughter? Is there a plot element that was not made clear? What?

    • Jen says:

Yeah, I don’t get it either. Wouldn’t her family recognize her? And know if their maid had a daughter who’s the same age as theirs? Even if she disguised herself that seems dumb and a waste of time. But it is NBC

    • JohnT says:

She was the daughter of the maid growing up in the house with the family, she left to go to school, became a cop and now heads back to the family to figure this murder out. I agree, the article doesn`t explain it very well, but I hope this helped.

Wait, so Victor Garber is in this too? I missed the casting scoop. I’ll be there!

This show should not be picked up, it is trying to rip off Revenge and no one is going to let that happen!!

Eh. Kidnapped did the whole ‘shady rich family/crime investigation’ show better. NBC shouldn’t have cancelled it. Amazing cast, great writing, so many possibilities… (Yes, I’m still bitter after 6 or 7 years.)

And just how long can you sustain this plot line? A good detective would have solved the murder mystery in no more than 2 episodes!
