Pilot News: Claire Forlani and Boris Kodjoe Have Scruples, Carrie Bradshaw's Dad Is Cast and More

Get More: Casting News, Pilots

Claire Forlani (CSI: NY) has landed the lead in Scruples, ABC’s drama pilot based on the novel by Judith Krantz, while Boris Kodjoe (Undercovers) also has joined the cast.

In other new pilot castings, teenage Carrie Bradshaw gets a father, Anthony Edwards and Cuba Gooding Jr. land wives and more.

In Scruples, which is being executive-produced by Natalie Portman, Forlani will star as Billy Winthrop, a powerful clothing designer — the role played by Bionic Woman Lindsay Wagner in the 1980 miniseries. Kodjoe meanwhile has been cast as Josh Hillman, the attorney of Billy’s late husband. Also, Jessica McNamee (Australia’s Packed to the Rafters) will play Maggie, a celebrity journalist and Billy’s BFF.

In other news, per our sister site Deadline:

* Eli Stone alum Matt Letscher, who has a recurring role on the midseason NBC comedy Bent, will play dad to AnnaSophia Robb’s Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries, the ’80s-themed CW drama based on Candace Bushnell’s novel.

* Jacinda Barrett (Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason) will play ER vet Anthony Edwards’ wife in ABC’s Zero Hour, while Michael Nyqvist (from the Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) has been cast as White Vincent, one of the villains behind the drama’s central conspiracy.

* Sharon Leal (Hellcats) is Cuba Gooding Jr.’s sexy, savvy spouse in the Fox drama pilot Guilty.

* Drew Van Acker aka Pretty Little Liars‘ Jason has joined Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry’s Devious Maids, playing the son of an affluent Beverly Hills family.

* Tim Guinee (The Good Wife) has joined NBC’s Revolution, from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke and to be directed by Jon Favreau. The high-octane drama follows a group of people struggling to survive in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.

  • I hope that Scruples will be picked up – because that would, hopefully, mean no more Claire Forlani in NCIS:LA!

  • Drew Van Acker joining, Devious Maids is great news but what will happen to Jason on Pretty Little Liars, I guess since A and the killer of Ali is revealed then they wont need him anymore.

  • Michael Nyqvist should be a movie star not working on a tv show !
But at least i am happy to see Anthony Edwards coming back on-screen, he was one of the best on ER with his iconic role Dr Mark Green. Too bad he did not have Clooney’s career, he was as much of not more talented..

  • This is great! I’m sure he would help the show garner many more viewers ! But I really hope he would have his hair cut cause he looks muchmuchmuch better that way! And really hope he would get a more prominant role so that he is one of the leads!
