The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Friday

On TV this Friday: We see an extra dose of The Mentalist, a red-hot Grimm, Portlandias very special season finale, sibling rivalry on Blue Bloods and more. Here are nine programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm Shark Tank (ABC) | For those who want some homemade soup and stories about walking five miles in the snow, tune in to check out the “Rent-a-Grandma” service. Also being shilled to the Sharks: a robotic basketball-training apparatus.

8 pm Undercover Boss (CBS) | The CEO of Oriental Trading Company crashes the party (supply chain) by unintentionally shutting down production after fumbling on the assembly line.

9 pm The Mentalist (CBS) | Special night and time! Jane and the CBI try to narrow down the list of suspects when a terminally ill man is found murdered; Cho is forced to face his demons.

9 pm Grimm (NBC) | During an arson investigation, Nick finds himself in the heated world of fire dancing, where he meets a woman (Danielle Panabaker, Shark) who just might be too hot to handle. Daniel Baldwin (Homicide) also guest-stars.

9 pm The Ultimate Fighter Live (FX) | Season 15 premieres on a new network and with a new game plan: 13 weeks of live fights between the international field of 32 dedicated fighters, followed by a second season this summer. UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber will serve as coaches.

10 pm Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO) | Jon Hamm chats with Maher about the upcoming season of Mad Men. Oh, and a handful of political figures also stop by. But did we mention Jon Hamm?

10 pm Blue Bloods (CBS) | After the defendant’s attorney in Erin’s prosecution is murdered, Danny is assigned to the investigation, and that takes sibling rivalry to a whole new level.

10 pm Spartacus: Vengeance (Starz) | Spartacus and his rebels try to increase their numbers by freeing fighters enslaved in foreign wars; Lucretia seeks to recruit one of her husband’s former gladiators to outmaneuver powerful Romans.

10 pm Portlandia (IFC) | The Season 2 finale marks the first episode to tell one continuous and linear story, as all of Portlandia’s residents get caught up in an intricate, complicated world — in line at a new, trendy brunch spot. The Shawshank Redemption‘s Tim Robbins, St. Elsewhere‘s Ed Begley Jr. and axed X Factor host Steve Jones guest-star.

  • “Spartacus” is adding Ellen Hollman’s new character “Saxa” tonight and from everything I’ve been seeing and reading about the actress this may be a character to watch.
