Pilot Castings: Anthony Edwards Joins Zero Hour, Gifted Man Star Finds Applebaum and More

Get More: Casting News, Pilots

Anthony Edwards is eying a return to TV in an ABC pilot.

Also among the latest pilot castings: A Gifted Man star finds a new gig, a Bridesmaids scene-stealer is ABC-bound, a General Hospital alum books another soap and more.

In his first regular TV role since ER, Edwards will star in ABC’s drama Zero Hour from Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring.

The project centers on a magazine editor who becomes involved in one the most compelling conspiracies in human history when his wife is kidnapped.

In other pilot news from our sister site Deadline:

• Rhys Coiro is reuniting with his Gifted Man co-star Rachelle Lefevre in the CBS drama Applebaum, which is based on Ayelet Waldman’s Mommy Track Mysteries series of books.

• Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids, Reno 911!) will play John Leguizamo’s ex-wife in the ABC comedy Only Fools and Horses after being released from the HBO pilot The Viagra Diaries.

General Hospital alum Brianna Brown has joined Marc Cherry’s ABC soap Devious Maids as a classy, smart trophy wife, per THR.

• Andrea Martin (SCTV) will play Ben Falcone’s mother in CBS’ untitled comedy from co-executive producer — and Falcone’s wife — Melissa McCarthy.

  • I like Anthony Edwards & wish him the best. Since this comes from the Prison Break creator-it will hopefully have much action and a complex & intricate storyline. Lord knows how desperately abc needs a hit.

    • ABC is in desperate need of a hit? Have you not seen the numbers for Revenge and Once?

  • Things are NOT looking goof for A Gifted Man to come back, if two of its regulars are cast in the same pilot. And since it stays at CBS, safe to say a decision has been made. Bums me out, that show grew on me.

  • I really liked a Gifted Man, I thought the ratings were pretty good? The finale rated 9.7 mil on a Friday night no less so I dont understand why its getting cancelled.

  • On the most likely cancellation of ‘A Gifted Man’ …. I’m wondering if starting a campaign similar to the one that gave Jericho one more season on CBS would work? Sure a rubber ball is much larger to send than peanuts but hey… it would be funny.

  • LOVE The Gifted Man, every time they get a good series they cancel it.
    What’s up with that?

  • I too was totally hooked on “The Gifted Man”…why oh why would they cancel a show with high ratings? Totally does not make any sense what-so-ever! Not everyone likes all the crappy reality shows…this show had merit and substance!
