Pilot Castings: Minnie Driver Finds Lady Friends, Amy Smart and House Actress Are Bad Girls

Minnie Driver has a new gal pal, having been tapped to star opposite Andrea Anders in Keri Lizer’s NBC comedy pilot Lady Friends.

Also among the latest wave of pilot castings: a Shameless gal and House‘s green-card wife.

Lady Friends is about two life-long female pals who are living very different lives but can’t live without each other. Driver (The Riches) will play Jen, who has made some terrible life decisions — a 17-day marriage to a guy who dumped her, for one — but is Nicole’s (played by Anders) rock. Earlier this week, Cougar Town‘s Josh Hopkins was cast as Nicole’s hubby.

Meanwhile, Amy Smart (Shameless) has joined NBC’s adaptation of the UK’s prison-set series Bad Girls as a perfect Barbie-type who was busted for stealing and running up her friend’s credit card. Also joining the drama pilot is Karolina Wydra (House‘s Dominika) as a scheming, sultry inmate. The pilot is being produced by John Wells (Shameless, ER).
