The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Tuesday

On TV this Tuesday: The American Idol wannabes start lobbying for your vote, the Cougar Town crew cooks up a new game, Parenthood wraps up its third season and more. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features, we’ve singled out 11 other programs to keep on your radar.

3 pm General Hospital (ABC) | Emma Samms returns to the role of Holly, to be followed on Wednesday by Tristan Rogers (as Robin’s father, Robert). One Life to Live‘s Kassie DePaiva (Blair) and Roger Howarth (Todd) then show up Friday and Monday, respectively.

8 pm American Idol (Fox) | In this two-hour outing, the Top 12 boys — plus a mystery 13th singer! — start singing for your vote.

8 pm The Amish: American Experience (PBS) | This portrait of contemporary Amish faith and life examines how such a closed and communal culture has thrived within one of the most open, individualistic societies on earth.

8 pm Switched at Birth (ABC Family) | When Bay hears the news of a deadly crash in Afghanistan, she gets nervous that Ty might be injured, while Emmett is jealous to learn that Bay has been emailing Ty; Daphne starts to question her relationship with Wilke, then is confronted by a new guy at Carlton school.

8:30 pm Cougar Town (ABC) | Jules is in full “All Wedding, All the Time” mode until Travis is in an accident and rushed to the hospital; Grayson is feeling neglected by Jules, so the guys cheer him up by inventing a new game called “D-Ball.”

9 pm NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) |  In Part 2 of “Blye, K,” the team continues to search for evidence to prove Kensi’s innocence after a private meeting involving her deceased father’s sniper unit turns deadly.

9 pm The River (ABC) | After the Magus is run aground by another vessel, the crew quickly learns that their seeming rescue party has a very different agenda; a shocking discovery leaves one of crew in tears. Lee Tergesen (Oz) guest-stars as Lena’s father.

9 pm Ringer (The CW) | When Andrew proposes again, Bridget realizes she is in over her head; Olivia becomes increasingly suspicious of Malcolm.

10 pm Unforgettable (CBS) | Al and Carrie are forced to the sidelines by a negotiator (The Wire‘s Boris McGiver) when a murder suspect’s father (The Wire‘s Clark Johnson) takes members of the Queens PD, Nina included, hostage.

10 pm Justified (FX) | As his feud with Quarles and the Detroit mob heats up, Raylan’s tactics puts him at odds with the FBI. Count on lots of great Neal McDonough scenes, plus the reintroduction of Jim Beaver (Supernatural) as former mine boss Shelby.

10 pm Parenthood (NBC) | Season finale: The Bravermans come together to celebrate Crosby’s wedding while Julia and Joel strive to overcome the roller coaster that adopting a child put them through; Crosby and Adam decide on the fate of The Luncheonette; Sarah makes a difficult decision about her future.     Cougar Town looks like it’s going to be another gem. That Spoiler Alert video was hilarious. I agree with Zach Levi about the Chuck finale. How can you have gone on that journey with Chuck and Sarah and not believe that they will find their way back to each other?

    I caught up on the river over the last two days. I was sitting there s******g myself during the doll episode. Told all my friends about it too, and I’ve been receiveing messages all day like “OH GOD! THE HEAD!”
    Scariest show I’ve seen in a long time, and I already love every second of it. Can’t wait for the next ep tonight!
