May 2012 Sweeps Scorecard: Deaths, Weddings, Pregnancies, Sex, Graduations and More!

May SweepsWhat May Sweeps is to May, TVLine’s May Sweeps Scorecard is to May Sweeps: in a word, essential! Same as last year, the Scorecard is jam-packed with Sweeps spoilers and, as an added, titillating-to-the nth degree bonus, season finale spoilers, too! But these aren’t your run-of-the-mill teasers. Not in the least. Many of them are shrouded in mystery, affording you the opportunity to guess at the “whos” that will be doing all the “whats” that are itemized in the chart.

Before you dive in, one hint: Everything that’s listed below happens to a series regular or a recurring character (no one-off guest stars allowed) on a broadcast network show (i.e. ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, The CW).

One more hint: As Sweeps nears, the chart will be updated time and again, with blanks filled in when intel leaks and new question marks added. (Asterisk quizzes are also a possibility… if you ask nicely. And remember, only events that take place in May are listed below. In other words, the imminent birth of Booth and Brennan’s kid is not Scorecard-eligible.)

OK, now you can scroll down and behold the awesomeness that is The Second Annual TVLine May Sweeps Scorecard!

  1. aiza11 says:

Is Olivia’s(Fringe) pregnancy considered shocking? We already know since episode 419.

  2. adam says:

LOL. Lots of firing and quitting and job changes.

  3. aa says:

    Once Upon A Time:
Death – August & Maleficent (our world versions)
Couple Reunion – Mr Gold & Belle AND Mary Margaret & David

    • paige says:

I wondered why they didn’t list at least the first reunion! MM and David have been on and off throughout, but certainly Belle and Rumpelstilskin/Gold (whoever he is now that the curse broke) should be included…?

    • Nora says:

Since magic was brought to Storybrooke, is August really dead or will he ‘come alive’ as Pinocchio?

  4. joterri says:

    spoiler pregnancy the second Merideth?

  5. andrew says:

    Desperate Housewives:
    * Julie gives birth
    * Time Wrap
    * Tom & Lynette Reuniting
    * Katherine returning
    * Ben & Rene Wedding
    * Karen died
    * Tripp & Bree married (through time wrap)
    *

  6. cheez it says:

I don’t know if I consider a thirty second fantasy world flashback to be a big return for the Huntsman although I do appreciate them bringing him back. Also, if August was a fatality, with magic returning, I think he should be moved under the possible category. Magic returning may cause him to revive.

  7. Piano. says:

so which ones left belonged to Desperate Housewives?

  8. Matthew says:

Edna and Ned were married(or revealed to be married) on the last night The Simpsons episode.

  9. shouldn’t CSI:NY be add to the Number of time warps b/c at the end it jumped ahead 6 months?

  10. What about RAISING HOPE? They had both a “Big Return” AND a “Fatality” in the character of Lucy (Hope’s serial killer-mother played by Bijou Phillips). I know the show ended in April, but you have other shows from April listed here. I just felt it should be included. :)

    • Matthew says:

The finale happened on April 17, May sweeps began on offically April 26. If the finale was 2 weeks later, it would of been on the scorecard.

      • If that is case (which I completely understand), shouldn’t the April 9 “Onscreen Firing” of Cary from THE GOOD WIFE be taken out? Not playing Devil’s Advocate, I’m just looking for clarification. :)

        • E says:

I think it is a typo and it meant April 29, the day the finale was on :). April 9 was a Monday and definitely not Sweeps, as Matthew noted.

  11. madbengalsfan85 says:

Booth is suspended, Brennan is on the run with Christine (Max as well, soon as they meet) …what a beautiful episode

    • madbengalsfan85 says:

And the the “OMG, how could someone do that” moment DB was referring to earlier…I think he was referring to Cam. The fallout will be spectacular (particularly with Booth). But Cam’s actions kept the Jeffersonian in the hunt (as Caroline referred to). Can’t wait until next season

      • E says:

He could have meant the moral dilemma the team faces with Brennan and how evidence piles up against her. He is vague and it could be applied to either Brennan or Pelant. To Cam — she was just doing her job and not letting herself go because of emotions (contrary to what Pelant wanted).

It was a spectacular finale and the fallout promises to be even more so. Let’s hope for a post-mortem chat soon :)

PS – To those categories you added, maybe Ausiello should add a christening/baptism category for Christine.

  12. Maureen Tait says:

Shouldn’t Elena from The Vampire Diaries be counted as both a fatality AND resurrection?

  13. callie says:

Mike, I think you want to note that Maleficent died in storybrooke.

  14. bree says:

You forgot the epic Chuck and Blair in the reuniting couples

  15. Nicole says:

Does the CSI finale count as a time warp or was it too short?

  16. 8daysmeg says:

Does Blair’s new job on GG not count for a major job change?

  17. ozzie says:

Why isn’t the journalist from scandal listed as a fatality. He was stabbed by the go chief of staff. I forget his name but he was also in lie to me and on scandal he is Quinn’s boyfriend.

  18. Matthew says:

Ned Flanders and Edna Krabppel(from the Simpsons) are still not listed in the weddings

  19. Will and Emma had sex for the first time on Glee

  20. Clarissa says:

woah, I think the possible fatalities list is going to get bigger. #NCIS

  21. JSand says:

NCIS – possible fatalities – Ducky (apparent heart attack); undefined others (explosion)

  22. Russ says:

I don’t think the Ivy and Dev count as a ‘couple’ more like two people having random sex.

  23. Addison and Jack can’t join the list of people having sex for the first time May 15th
Amelia’s baby being born May 15th.
Oh and Addisons and Sam’s possible engagment May 15th
Jesse’s retun to Glee May 15th
Will and Emma having sex for the first time May 15th
Oh and Blair got a job change on GG May 14th with taking over her mother’s companey

The Cheir and Jacksons mother also had sex for the first time in a Grey’s sweeps episode the same as April and Jackson.

and I guess Booth suspention could also be counted as job change and Brennan running away and therefor not having the same job either as a job change…

  24. Joel says:

    Deaths- Big Carl
Couples having “sex” for the first time- Jules and Big Lou

  25. lily says:

you’ve forget Julia from SMASH [possible pregnancy]

  26. madhatter360 says:

Shouldn’t Addison and Jake be on the first time having sex list?

  27. Steph says:

The NCIS finale was crazy. Although I’m 99% positive NCIS isn’t killing anyone off I’m going to go sit in a corner and cry.

  28. Svenja says:

LOL NCIS … I just can’t believe that happened XD

  29. Oh come on, almost everyone on NCIS possibly dead? You kidding me?

Ducky won’t be dead because the actor has already renewed his contract, Ziva and Gibbs won’t be dead because the actors are not even up for renewal, now since Tony and Abby are in the same place as Ziva resp. Gibbs and just on the floor resp. the elevator they’re not gonna be dead either. A short blast of fire went metres above Gibbs’ and Abby’s head, they just dropped to the floor to evade it, there’s no way I’d buy that they’re dead. McGee might have gotten glass splinters in his face and could’ve hit his head in the fall, but I’m pretty sure we wasn’t killed by the blast, the fire didn’t reach him either and I’d say chances he broke his neck in the fall are pretty pretty slim, so I wouldn’t buy his death either.

So the only we really don’t know anything about is Vance, who’s not even included in the list.
Also while I know that Jonathon Cole did appear in a few episodes I wouldn’t exactly consider him a recurring star as in being linked or emotionally connected with the team to such an extent as e.g. Jimmy Palmer. In other words: Cole may have been nice this episode, but who really cares that he’s dead?

PS: Grrrr, HATING that I’m suppose to have and be willing to link twitter, fb or wordpress to even post here! Thanks for articially enforcing networking in places I don’t want to connect.

    • smidnite says:

Don’t count characters being in proximity to each other as a guarantee; the distance of a centimeter could mean the difference between life and death.

      • Yeah, but if anything Gibbs shielded Abby, so it would make more sense if he was hurt more severly than she is, and Tony and Ziva in the elevator… what would happen to them? Carbonmonoxide poisoning when they’re trapped? In that case they’d likely both be goners, and as a I said, the proximity is not the only thing that makes me think they’re not gonna be dead. It’s not like they were enclosed by flames with the clothes burning and such, in fact you could even hear Abby, Tony and Ziva making surprised noises after the blast, so if anything we haven’t heard a peep from Tim, mainly because he was shown too briefly.
In short, if that was supposed to keep me on the edge of my seat for summer they failed, I’m not gonna lose any sleep over that until possibly PP or SM don’t renew their contracts, in which case I could only hope they’d come up with a better and more believable story than their death and give them a happy off-screen time. (Not that I’d actually continue watching then, but at least a decent story surround their leaving would be nice.)

  30. Becca says:

I freakin’ love that Big Carl is listed as one of the fatalities…anyone who watches knows he’s a very important character lol

  31. nalex says:

What about Olivia’s death and resurrection in Fringe?

  32. olivia’s pregnancy wasn’t shocking, unless you don’t know how to do simple math…

  33. and also olivia had a resurrection in the finale too of fringe…

  34. Carrie says:

I’m not sure why Renko from NCIS:LA is listed as a fatality when Malia from Hawaii Five-0 isn’t listed as possible. She seemed in pretty dire condition when Chin Ho found her and she is definitely a recurring character.

    • smidnite says:

He’s a recurring character who is confirmed dead.

Speaking of which: Gideon from Scandal is now confirmed dead after being stabbed last week. He was as important to some of us as Billy was.

Also on Missing: Azimov and his son Max were killed last week; both were recurring characters who had more appearances than others who have been listed in the past. Martin Newman was killed this week; and Becca Winstone should at least be counted as a possible fatality.

  35. ollie says:

so funny big carl from ct on here

  36. AngelMoon Girl says:

So I’m still on cloud 9 that Olivia on Fringe is pregnant :) Peter will be the freaking cutest daddy ever (except for Booth! LOL! Weird there’s no Bones on this list!) and I’m eager to see what the last season has in store!
NCIS was really epic too! It’s funny that so many of the fatalities are from there. Here’s hoping Tony and Ziva have a touching moment in the elevator in the bomb’s aftermath…

  37. Clay says:

How many times is Hetty going to resign on NCIS:LA? I’ve watched the show sporadically throughout its three seasons and there always seems to be a plot about her quitting right around May Sweeps.

  38. Briana says:

I think mark and lexie survive and get engaged in the aftermath?

  39. Calliope says:

Doesn’t Blair getting control of her mother’s company count as “onscreen firings/resignations/major job change”?

  40. lilas says:

i watched the episode of cougar town, but when was big carl dead????

  41. jk says:

    possible fatality – Ivy/Smash

  42. Rob says:

I think Director Vance of NCIS needs to be added to possible fataliies. I was even sort of hinted at by Granger in NCIS:LA when he said he was on his way to D.C. as he had a situation to deal with.

    • smidnite says:

Just the explosion itself should have been enough to get Grainger’s attantion; but I think Vance got out.

  43. Steve says:

What time do you usually update this with previous days information? It seems very inconsistent.

  44. Arielle A. says:

LOVE the fact that Big Carl’s untimely demise has been listed as a fatality… RIP Big Carl! Welcome to the world Big Lou!

  45. Sue says:

    Is Dixon really dead???

  46. ann says:

    Jack/Avery are a divorce!

  47. jgrant794 says:

    Hahahaahahahhaaha Starburns is alive! #6seasonsandamovie

  48. Tommy says:

    Teddy- Fired
    Lexie- RIP
    Bailey and Ben- engaged

    God this pissed me off!

  49. missy says:

    OMG Lexie!!!!!! WHY??

  50. Harper says:

Wouldn’t Julia’s pregnancy (or possible pregnancy) on Smash count in that category?
