Scoop: Oscar Winner Mira Sorvino Nearing Deal to Headline CBS Drama Pilot Trooper

Mira Sorvino TrooperMira Sorvino is eying her first major TV series gig.

The Oscar winner is nearing a deal to play the title role in CBS’ cop drama pilot Trooper, TVLine has learned.

From Warner Bros. TV and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Trooper is a character-based procedural drama centered on a common-sense mother-turned-New York state trooper (Sorvino).

Heroes alum Aron Eli Coleite penned the script and will serve as an EP alongside Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed.

Sorvino has dabbled in television before, mostly appearing as a guest star in episodes of Will & Grace and House.

  • YES YES YES! Mira has the chops to pull this off. She’s good in comedic roles, as well as serious roles. And we all know she can even do action! I hope this works out. CBS procedurals tend to do very well. Fingers crossed.

  • More crime dramas coming? Can’t we have a break from them for a change. We have seen too many failures these past couple of years and this is why. They all sound promising but then they just flat-line.

  • I agree. She’s a good actress, yeah, but i agree there are too many crime dramas for my taste. May I ask what kind of programming you would like to see more of?

  • She’s wearing a cop uniform in it and looks damn amazing. She is also the most professional and sincere person I have met. Oh yeah and brains to match her gorgeous looks.If anyone can pull this cop drama off, it will be Mira Sorvino.
