Pilot Scoop: Sophia Bush Partners Up in CBS Comedy from Will & Grace Creators

Sophia Bush is angling to put allllll that One Tree Hill drama behind her by joining the cast of Partners, a comedy pilot being developed for CBS by the creators of Will & Grace.

Pilot Season Lingo Guide (Including the ‘Scary’ Second Position), Plus a List of Picked-Up Pilots

Written and executive-produced by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, and to be directed by sitcom vet James Burrows, Partners follows two architects — Charlie is straight, Louis gay — whose friendship has lasted longer than either of their romantic relationships and almost seems like a weird marriage. When Charlie decides to propose to his girlfriend, Louis’ neurotic attempts to be supportive nearly result in the breakup of his own relationship.

Bush, who represents the pilot’s first piece of casting, will play Charlie’s soon-to-be-fiancée, our sister site Deadline reports. The actress wrapped filming on The CW’s Tree Hill back in November, with the series finale airing this spring.

CBS’ other comedy pilot orders for this winter include Friend Me (about two Indiana guys who move to L.A. to work for Groupon), a rom-com from Greg Malins and Greg Berlanti and starring JoAnna Garcia (Reba), Super Fun Night (starring Bridesmaids scene-stealer Rebel Wilson), and a multi-cam project being penned by Louis CK .

    Can’t wait :) I adore Sophia :)

  2. Alberto says:

    YES!!! I love her!!

  3. mare says:

I love her, and didn’t expect her in a comedy! But she will rock it!
I could imagine her to play the MOM on HIMYM! Go Sophia!

    • t.t says:

:O she would be perfect as the mother!
if only the mother was a brunette but isn’t the mother supposed to blonde or is it just me?

      • paula says:

No the mother is supposed to be brunette. Ted said it in a episode when he was dating Stella to his kids because if he had married Stella the kids would be blind too and not brunette as the ones in the couch

    • Mandi says:

Thank you!!! I’ve thought for a long time that she should play the mother!! She’s gorgeous and she definitely has a flair for comedy and has great timing… fingers crossed she’ll pop up in the end.

  4. l says:

OMG NO WAY! :D Max Mutchnick, David Kohan and Jim Burrows!? *-* AND Sophia Bush…that’s awesome!

  5. LaurenMC says:

I love her and wish her much success after One Tree Hill!

  6. Sid says:

If CBS passes on this, hopefully The CW can pick it up! No place like home for Sophia BUSH is The CW!

    • lauren says:

Because the CW airs so many sitcoms? I’m rooting for Sophia to graduate to the big leagues, hope this sticks.

    • Rolfe says:

Look how that is working for Ringer… The CW doesn’t know how to handle a show.

      • Ella says:

I love Ringer, but it deserves to be cancelled. It got a ton of promotion and had many repeats aired so viewers could it. It’s doing crappy in the ratings because people are not interested, not because the CW screwed anything up.

  7. lipsticksocialism says:

this is BEYOND awesome!! I didn’t think Sophia would get on TV so soon after OTH, but YAYYYY!

  8. Ivet says:

This is amazing, I’m so excited to see her on something fun :)

  9. Km says:

When will it air and where is it being filmed???

  10. Wrenn says:

So happy for Sophia. I was hoping there would be an announcement for her getting a new project. I’ve always wanted her to work with Tom Welling. I wish he would be cast as her boyfriend on the show. Congrats Sophia!

  11. Rolfe says:

Sounds great! Hope it gets an episode order!

  12. A says:

this sounds almost exactly like the way the Will & Grace pilot started except with two male best friends.
    hopefully it’ll be good though

  13. TJ. Church says:

Sounds like Elisha on “Endings”: Hot girl on horrible show.

    • Captain says:

Happy Endings is the best comedy on television. Sophia would be lucky if her show was as funny as HE. God, now I just wish Sophia was on Happy Endings.

  14. Blueeyes83 says:

This is good news! I wanted to see her on something other than OTH for a long time!

  15. Donnie says:

When dose Sophia show start ? Love her she is a great role model for kids !
