Criminal Minds Exclusive First Look Photo, Plus Video: Hotch and Beth Are Gonna [Spoiler]!

Get More: Exclusive, First Look

This Wednesday on Criminal Minds (CBS, 9/8c), a ray of light will slip into Hotch’s regularly dark world when he and Beth, the museum curator (played by Dirty Sexy Money‘s Bellamy Young) whom he first met in a mid-December episode, kiss for the first time — and TVLine has an exclusive first look at the moment right before their sweet clinch.

Matt’s Inside Line: Scoop on the Return of Criminal Minds’ [Spoiler]

Giving even more magnitude to the moment — which comes at the close of this week’s typically intense hour, as they embark on their first full-on date — is the fact that it’s the first time Thomas Gibson‘s Agent Hotchner has locked lips with a woman since his ex-wife Haley (played by Meredith Monroe) died in Season 5, at the hands of serial killer George Foyet.

Beneath the photo, you’ll also find a clip of Hotch working his way around to finally asking Beth out. Cute stuff.

  • I just feel like the old criminal minds is gone and it makes me very sad…this season has had terribly written episodes so far which aren’t interesting, or developed well enough even to make sense. there’s not enough profiling going on, and they’ve added this gooey romantic subplot which shouldn’t exist. I mean, does anyone else not find it weird how Beth first appeared? she just jumps out from behind Hotch and is all “hey are you in the FBI!?” also, it is so unrealistic for Hotch to already be sharing a kiss this soon in the relationship. he is one who takes time to trust others, and if anyone remembers, he and Haley were high school sweethearts before getting married. Love is a serious thing for Hotch and he wouldn’t change so easily. Either way, the writers should be focusing on writing better episodes than wasting their time trying to establish ROMANCE on a CRIME show. this is CRIMINAL MINDS, it was supposed to be different from those other shows.
it just makes me sad to see this show going down hill, because i love it so much. But if the writers keep this up, CM will be over sooner than we think.

  • Although Beth may be a good looking woman, “she DOES NOT have the quality, characteristics, inner beauty, the right core, etc. that is good and right for Hotch—the diligent and honorable man, and a leader of the BAU team!” Therefore, Criminal Minds needs to deliver the storyline to make Hotch and Beth break off their relationship for good in the next one or two episodes on Season 8!

On the other hand, Emily Prentiss has the right core for Hotch, except that Emily Prentiss might be leaving for London for new job to lead a team!

  • Suffice it to say that I was overjoyed to hear that Ms. Young would only be back for two more episodes to “wrap things up”. If there’s a God in heaven, this storyline will meet a timely end. I’m 100% for Hotch being happy again, but not with this character/actress. I don’t see any chemistry between them.

  • Aside from the lack of chemistry between Hotch/Thomas Gibson and Beth/Bellamy Young (atrocious casting – let Ms. Young go back to Scandal and stay there), I speak from experience when I say that a child Jack’s age doesn’t jump so easily into the arms of someone his Daddy picked up at the park. Adding insult to injury, Ms. Messer is going to shove a long distance relationship down our throats? There is so much talent out there, can’t we find some new, fresh minds to write for CM? I’ve really taken a liking to Cold Case and now I know why – Jerry Bruckheimer is the producer/director. He seems to realize the value of an audience and never insults us. I’d like to think Ms. Messer is listening, but I;m sure she’s too busy writing the wedding scene between Hotch and Beth. Enjoy the unemployment line EM.

  • I’m so happy that finally Hotch will move on. Shipping him with this or that team member is really unlike Hotch.
