Love Wolk, but if this drama is supposed to be serious, how could a Secretary of State hire her own son without being accused of nepotism?

I´m confused, is this show a mini-series or a “normal” show ??? because i want James Wolk to be available for pilot season and not tagged on a 6 episodes gig
