Pilot Scoop: Michael B. Jordan Reunites with Friday Night Lights Boss on NBC's County

Michael B. Jordan County

It’s safe to say former Friday Night Lights boss Jason Katims had clear eyes and a full heart when it came to casting the latest role on his NBC drama pilot County.

The Emmy-winning auteur has tapped FNL star Michael B. Jordan to star opposite Jason Ritter in the medical drama, which chronicles the lives of a group of young doctors, nurses, and administrators in a troubled LA County Hospital.

Like Ritter, Jordan also appeared in Katims’ latest Peacock drama, Parenthood. (The guy is nothing if not loyal.)

Jordan can next be seen in the Feb. 27 episode of House.

  1. ggny says:

now cast Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler

  2. kevin says:

With Charlie’s Angels already doomed, why not cast Minka Kelly? Let’s hope she doesn’t return to Parenthood if it gets renewed.

  3. Kristen says:

When you said boss, I was hoping it would be Coach. I miss Kyle Chandler on my TV :(

  4. Jay says:

How about Adrianne Palicki. She was one of my favorites on FNL (along with Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton)

  5. Matt says:

Agreed, get Adrianne Palicki on this show! And Jurnee Smolett and Zach too.

  6. Sara says:

Sooo, this show is basically ER in LA? An NBC show about young doctors, nurses, and adminstrators in a troubled county hospital. Hmm, sounds familiar.

    • DL says:

I’m hoping it could be like a medical version of Southland. Of course, that would mean the show would end up on TNT after one season. ;)

  7. Justin says:

Adrianne Palicki and Jurnee Smolett would round out this cast nicely.

  8. matthew c says:

He’ll always be Reggie from All My Children to me! he played Susan Lucci’s step-son!

  9. Fan says:

since michael has been cast, i will most definitely watch! i REALLY miss him on parenthood. i’m SOOO over mark and sarah…. it doesn’t make sense for them to have a baby….

  10. fantoo says:

I want Landry and Smash back!

  11. pv says:

What great news for him. I’m even more excited for this show now.
Still hope we’ll see him return to Parenthood at some point

  12. Kiki says:

Anyone involved with FNL, actors, writers and fans as well can feel insulted by your comment, because she sucked there too. There was outstanding talent there and she was always the weakest link. Good actors can hold their own – she’s not even average.

  13. TheBeach says:

    Another doctor/hospital show? yawn.

  14. Kat says:

YESSSSS. This NEEDS to get a series pick-up!

  15. Allie says:

I’m not ready for Mark Cyr to leave Parenthood, though. He and Sarah are so so lovely together. Losing Alex was hard enough. Now Katims has gotta take BOTH of the adorable boyfriends for his new show? Not cool. I’m only okay with this deal if Connie Britton joins this new show next.

  16. Ram510 says:

So does this mean Jason Ritter is leaving Parenthood? If so, that’s stupid. County will probably be cancelled anyways

  17. John says:

I like that Katims is loyal and his actors to him. Its kinda refreshing. Certainly quite a few FNL stars he can grab. All 3 of the main girls. Haddie is going to college so he can grab Sarah. A few of the guys as well.
    Still will watch this.
