Pilot Scoop: CBS Orders Comedy from Melissa McCarthy, Starring Her Husband

CBS has ordered a comedy pilot to be produced by Mike & Molly leading lady Melissa McCarthy and star her husband.

The Bridesmaids scene-stealer will co-executive produce the potential series, which will be co-written by as well as star her better half, Ben Falcone.

Pilot Season Lingo Guide (Including the ‘Scary’ Second Position), Plus a List of Picked-Up Pilots

The untitled project centers around a single 37-year-old man who loses everything in the real estate market collapse and finds himself back in his childhoood home with his parents. Larry Dorf (Mad) will pen the pilot with Falcone.

Of course this isn’t the first time that McCarthy and Falcone have worked together. He played the air marshal that McCarthy sits next to (and takes quite a shine to) in Bridesmaids.

i didnt know he was her husband? he’s pretty funny i remember him from “Joey”, he was pretty funny in that.

  2. Tay says:

That’s great and all but I need to bring this up. Melissa McCarthy doesn’t deserve an oscar nomination for the horrendous disaster known as Bridesmaids!

  3. Andre says:

Wasn’t (or isn’t) there a show on a cable channel with a similar premise entitled Retired at 30 or something? I haven’t seen an episode of it but I believe it starred (or stars) Debra Jo Rupp as the mother.

    • Andre says:

Something a simple Google search could have solved. Retired at 35 and I was mixing the canceled ABC sitcom that starred Debra Jo Rupp with it. Point being, I don’t think the premise is that interesting so I’m skeptical about the chances of success.

  4. Dot says:

This is soooooo bad bt sence it’ll air on CBS it’ll probly be a hit lol

  5. Elizabeth says:

Yeah, I like these two but this premise isn’t all that original.
All these new shows being ordered that feel like they have been done a million times… really make me miss Community and it’s wonderful originality :(

  6. Martina says:

The premise doesn’t have to be original, 2.5 men could be compared to the odd couple, modern family could be compared with leave it to beaver, with comedy it’s hardly ever about the premise.

  7. Sam says:

The air marshall is her husband?!?!
