Happy Endings Exclusive: Sunny Mary Elizabeth Ellis Makes [Spoiler] Pregnant!

Someone on Happy Endings will be announcing a pregnancy this spring — and she’ll have Mary Elizabeth Ellis to thank for the (pretend!) bun in the oven.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia waitress has booked a guest-starring role on the ABC comedy as Anna, a childhood friend of Jane and Alex’s who comes for a visit and immediately rubs Penny — whom she also knew back in the day — the wrong way by being really, really, really (wait for it) nice.

In fact, Anna is so persistently friendly and oppressively helpful that she sets in motion a chain of events that leads one of the gals to fake a pregnancy just to (unsuccessfully) ditch the super-clingy pal.

In addition to her time in Philadelphia, Ellis recently has appeared on Fox’s New Girl as Nick’s ex. Fun fact: She also represents the third alum of NBC’s short-lived Perfect Couples to guest on Happy Endings, following David Walton and Hayes MacArthur.

Proof they can be ok in OTHER PEOPLE’S stuff, not as a lead. Like Rob Schneider.

Ellis wasn’t the lead in “Perfect Couples” but she was the best thing about that show and had NBC not cast a no discernable talent model, Olivia Munn, as one of the leads that show may have had a chance.

This is awesome news! It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Happy Endings are two of my top favorite comedies on TV right now, Modern Family being another one of my top favorite comedies on TV. What I think is funny about this is that as soon as I finished watching this week’s Valentine’s Day episode of Happy Endings, the first thing I thought was that it made me laugh just as much as It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia always does. If I had to rank my top 3 favorite comedies on TV right now, this would be my list: 1) It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia 2)Modern Family 3) Happy Endings. Although, there have been times this season where I would probably put Happy Endings in the #2 slot in the list of my top favorite comedies.
I love Mary Elizabeth Ellis on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and I can’t wait to see this episode. :)

At least we know her character’s name in this case.
