Terra Nova‘s Stephen Lang has landed a multi-episode arc on the fifth and final season of In Plain Sight, playing the pivotal role of Mary Shannon’s oft-mentioned and extremely troubled father, TV Guide Magazine reports.

“My father comes back — finally — and I’m looking forward to it,” star Mary McCormack told TVLine last month of Sight‘s swan song. After all, she says, you can’t end the series without addressing Mary’s long-festering daddy issues head on. “Its a big part of why she is the way she is.”

As fans of the USA Network drama know well, Lang’s character, James Wiley Shannon, is a fugitive who abandoned his daughter some 30 years ago and has lived a life on the run ever since.

In Plain Sight‘s final season — which consists of just eight episodes — kicks off Friday, March 16 at 10/9c. (With reporting by Matt Mitovich)

  • Awesome! He’s the main reason I watch Terra Nova (and still hold out a glimmer of hope it gets renewed). Can’t wait to see him and Mary interact!

  • I also am keeping my fingers crossed for Terra Nova’s renewal, but will be very happy to see this incredibly talented man turn up in something else as well, if even for just a few episodes. Great News!

  • I’m so sad that “In Plain Sight” is ending. It seems like it still has a lot of life left in the show. It has strong stories and good ratings, and should be kept on the air.

  • So, he’s playing a character with the same name as Jason O’Mara’s on Terra Nova. Weird.

  • Glad that they’re ending that story arc. The thing that bothers me the most in the article is the the season is only 8 episodes long. What cheap asses.

  • 8 Episodes is half a season which is how USA also ended Law and Order CI… What I can’t wait is for the end of Breaking Bad when the White family is ushered into WITSEC by Mary Shannon to another city…

  • Any chance of network changing their mind on the cancellation? There are so few shows on tv worth watching anymore. This one I enjoy.
